One of the reasons why I felt Brexit happened was because the Remain campaign didn't really provide a positive reason to vote for staying until after the referendum tbf. Fat load of good that was.

I'm not sure what is next tbf. At the very least I think the Democrat party needs a clearout of some names that have just not proven up to it.

I've always felt that remain lost because the result was presumed. People were living in a bubble and not listening to their neighbours or their concerns, far too many people thought that leave had no chance, especially after all of the c*ck ups on the leave campaign trail. I've always felt that this led to many remainers not feeling the need to turn out.

Never looked it up, but would be interesting to see if any polls were done amongst people who, verifiably, didn't vote, and what their vote would have been.

A new move indeed given you've historically been one of the more reliable Twitter re-posters on here.

I kind of told myself after UK election I'd get off here actually...then postponed that to US election and added twitter to that..but here I am.

One day I'll do something else.

Quite funny that both times Trump won he walked on stage to give his acceptance speech with a look on his face like ‘how the f**k have I pulled this off?!’. Like, he was all in on the stolen election play again and definitely wasn’t expecting to win legitimately.

he didn't realise so many people were that stupid.

It’s especially weird that he basically started his initial run as president as a bit of a joke and then just kinda kept going when he realised everybody was all in on his awful rhetoric. Worst timeline.

Just had a zoom meeting at work. I started by saying "Is anyone else feeling thoroughly depressed this morning?" This was met with a sea of blank faces. Eventually someone said "Why?" I said "he won", replied with "who won?" When I said "Trump", this was met with disinterested shrugs.

It amazes me how little so many people care about stuff like this compared to people on here. Maybe they have the right idea - none of them are feeling like sh*t today!

Do you think Biden would have lost as badly?

Would’ve been annihilated. Like, imagine another debate with him, and then everything else he would’ve had to do since. Would’ve been a monumental loss. He shouldn’t have ever gone for a second term and he and his teams hubris is what got us here. If they’d have had a primary and, say, Gavin Newsom had been the pick they would’ve had a much better chance. Possibly still lost, but a fighting chance with a full length campaign.

Maybe, probably, he was getting the blame for everything that was sh*t, and he is old and full of gaffes so probably would have been even more of a disaster...but then again he is a white man so there is that.

Hindsight etc, but Harris should have distanced herself from him more, said more about what people had been going through with cost of living, stopped hanging round with rich celebs and done stuff people can relate to like serve food in McDonalds.

The for you algorithm is so skewed. I happened to call somebody that was blaming the grey skies in the UK on chemtrails a moron and now my feed is full of people asking why the sky is grey in winter.🤷🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

101 Billionaire move - control the narrative. Most of them control media outlets, Elon just took it to the next level.

Mr. "Free Speech" then got his knickers in such a twist over Biden's Super Bowl tweet getting 3 times the impressions as his, he made the devs change the algorithm to artificially inflate his tweets by a factor of 1000. That's a big factor in why the "for you" tab is now so skewed.

Pretty nuts that voter turnout is seemingly far lower than last time, especially on the Dems side. Like, did people just decide to not bother this time? Obviously people were fired up over COVID and getting Trump out last time but seems crazy that that enthusiasm is just gone this time. I was expecting a record turnout. 60,000,000 for Kamala is embarrassing.

Biden had some appeal to working voters who switched to Trump. The younger Biden would have had a chance but sadly he's has not upto it now.

Not sure Harris lost badly just by a small amount in all the key states. The swing states seem around 52-48. The polls underestimated Trump but not by much. However her state polling was worse than the democratic state senate candidates so she was a drag on her party.
