Well that’s not their job, that’s the festivals job, and they like to keep things relatively muted even when they have news to come. We’ve never had a pre-announcement of an announcement before. Glasto 2022 News is probably all they are allowed to disclose if it’s something substantial.

I wouldn’t really have much choice. I wouldn’t watch one of those headliners mentioned. Would be a huge disappointment not to see at least one headliner that ticks the traditional Glastonbury schtick. I doubt I’d get the chance to get back to Glasto any time soon after this year.

Its not their job but its generally what they do when they have big news/exclusive to announce.

I'm starting to change my mind slightly, I'm not sure if its going to be a HS announcement...but then I may be completely wrong!

Last time Emily went on the one show with no news it was to promote the book. If it was about the emerging talent competition they would have said. It wouldn’t be labelled Glasto 2022 news.

If it was a chat with radio 6 at a non peak time I would agree with you. But this is Emily booking a slot on prime time radio. R1 will want something exclusive for that time slot. It’s the exact same time slot that R&L use for their announcements.

I literally mentioned dropping a couple of names, which would be the exclusive.

So what we suggested for ages really could have been true then?

Macca and Kendrick were indeed lined up, just like they were probably lined up for other festivals in the year - and late 2021 didn’t go through with it.

Emily spoke about GNR in Nov time so it would make sense if they were being drafted in around then.

The Prodigy were already well established by then and Radiohead certainly didn't seem unexpected (The Bends had been relatively successful and was well liked amongst the alt-y crowd). I guess that that is the real concern about having Billie and Styles on the same bill. Not the age per se, more that they really don't seem great for Glastonbury's audience. Bille on her own fine, but when you add the TV Boyband guy it all starts to look a bit.. basic. Like they should look at building an on-site Nando's or something...

Florence + the Machine are also played on R1 a decent amount, and it would be a comeback announcement of sorts if they were announced...seeing as none of FATMs official pages have announced jack shit at this point.
