Yeah, if they’re struggling then they’d just get Coldplay in, and to be honest who could blame them? If artists are cancelling and they’re struggling to get stable headliners in then it’s an obvious move on the festival’s part, as much as we’d think it sucks.

It'd be an option, definitely.

But if Coldplay are for real about not wanting to haunt the festival with their presence becoming a meme then the festival won't burn to the ground if The 1975 or Foals or Biffy Clyro or Florence and the Machine (as a previous headliner, an obvious choice) were to headline.

If acts start dropping out all over the shop I can see a few places being a little more relaxed over their exclusives.

Why? As an act of goodwill?

No because it’ll be something that could affect all festivals and they all may need to plug gaps in lineups. Glastonbury has been fairly creative in the past about getting round exclusivity arrangements.

God help us if they do what they did for Metallica and wait until after the refund deadline to announce Muse are the TBA headliner.

Wonder if Biffy Clyro would decide to play a non-terrible song to celebrate the occasion?

Coldplay, Florence, Liam G, GnR, Foos,  even someone like Elton.

If Macca is out and Kendrick is still in then I would bet the third headliner comes from that list.

As much as nobody on here would like to admit it,  they are more likely to call up The 1975 than any of that lot.  They had already probably been lined up for 21 or 22 before covid hit, and are that keen to do they would probably do it for free.  They way things are going you could see it happening

IOW would not give up exclusivity on Muse. Their line up is so shit now that they wouldn’t want to give people more reasons not to go.

If Macca is out, surely Elton is the #1 option to replace him?

I think if Elton was ever gonna headline he’d booked as a first choice, not drafted in as a late replacement.

That's assuming they have contractual exclusivity and can enforce it. In 2020, they announced Duran Duran as an exclusive only for them to get booked for BST.

Are Muse even really big enough now? Last album was critically successful but was it not a bit of a flop?

I imagine the headliners are all signed up. Are people just overthinking it? It's probably still Macca and Lamar

Someone came on here earlier to say no Macca and Emily’s just been on the radio talking about how they’re still booking people and shifting things around (granted she didn’t actually say headliners but it’s not a big leap to think they may be included in that.)

Plus festivals keep not announcing Kendrick.

If glasto turn up and whack their huge whopping penis on the table, telling IOW they're having Muse then they're having Muse. They won't get Muse though because Muse are completely dead.

Trying to catch up here, and concerned about all of the "If Macca is out" contingencies.

Is there any actual reason to believe Macca is out?

Someone who Neil believes to have accurate info came on this morning and said Macca is out with Harry in.
