kingcrawler
Between Emily's updates yesterday, the Little Simz announcement, Courtney Barnett self-confirming and now this Noel and Haim news, it definitely feels like things are picking up a bit this week which is good to see. I can just imagine him signing up thinking he was under Macca, and then it's all shifted and now he's curtain jerking for Styles 😂 Surely he would refuse to sub Harry Styles. He knows Liam would use that as ammo against him the rest of their lives. If this article is true it's more proof McCartney is playing

the wonderwhy
Adele (BST exclusive) Arctic Monkeys (R+L) Biffy Clyro (Download) Coldplay (ruled themselves out initially - could change) Dave (R+L) Dua Lipa (in Norway Sunday) Eagles (in Dublin Friday, London Sunday - 3 days in a row very unlikely) Ed Sheeran (in London Friday, Saturday) Elton John (in London Friday, Bristol Sunday - 3 days in a row very unlikely) Foals Florence and the Machine Foo Fighters (in Manchester Saturday) Gorillaz (Germany Friday, Luxembourg Sunday) Green Day (in UK Friday, Saturday; Dublin Monday - 4 days in a row very unlikely) Guns N' Roses (in France Saturday, b2b dates in different countries very unlikely) Harry Styles (in Germany Sunday) Imagine Dragons (UK exclusive show in Milton Keynes) Iron Maiden (Download) The Killers (too soon) Kings of Leon (in Dublin Friday, Belfast Sunday) Liam Gallagher (in Belfast Friday, Glasgow Sunday) Metallica (in Germany Friday, France Sunday - 3 days in a row very unlikely) Muse (IOW exclusive; in Spain Sunday) Pearl Jam (in Italy Saturday, b2b dates in different countries very unlikely) Post Malone (In Portugal Sunday) Rage Against the Machine (R+L) Red Hot Chili Peppers (in London Saturday and Sunday) Royal Blood Stormzy (too soon) The Strokes Dental's list again. Maybe he'll play before Liam!

Coldplay), we have the Eagles, Elton John, Gorillaz, Kings of Leon and Metallica all of whom have dates on the Friday and Saturday. This leaves only the Strokes, Florence and the Machine and McCartney as realistic options. I wouldn't be surprised if Noel has made some shitty remark about Florence and the Machine though

I don’t think his presence here is at all healthy for a man with intense anger issues and a strong undercurrent of racism that barely stays below the surface. I’m at a loss at why anyone who spits blood when America or Coachella is disrespected thinks it’s a good idea to board on a primarily English forum with lots of lighthearted patter. Any positives are dwarfed by the negatives. Its like having a screaming child at an otherwise pleasant and chatty dinner party. Intensely jarring. Suprefan whenever he reads anything about Coachella...
the wonderwhy
If it ended up being: Billie Eilish + Royal Blood / Coldplay + Noel Gallagher / Florence and The Machine + The War On Drugs Sam Fender / Dua Lipa / Pet Shop Boys I'm not sure you could have many complains about that. Decent G lineup and two women up top to boot. Should've just booked that in the first place!

It has some absolutely brilliant songs on there across genres. There is one track that actually made me think Bon Iver had a new single out (Cherry). Golden, Treat People With Kindness and Adore You are brilliantly written. This is before you start with one of best pop songs of last ten years (Watermelon Sugar). Canyon Moon is full of Paul Simon vibes. These are also JUST from album 2. Don't write him off just yet, just because he is popular with teenage girls. Just been and listened to him off the back of this post. That Bon Iver comparison really stands up. Thanks for the pointer.

There have been endless opportunities for him to play Glastonbury with the HFBs over the last decade and he's never popped up - doesn't strike me as though he's absolutely desperate to play, and if he's put on before someone he'd obviously have no time for I could actually see him sacking it off. A great returning sub, don’t get me wrong. But Flo hasn’t had a hit in about 10 years and there’s untested demand for her return (some high European placements don’t say much yet). Even for the first post-pandemic fest, with all this scrambled touring, that’s strikingly weak. So you are saying realistically the Saturday headliner is either going to be Paul McCartney or the Strokes. I can did that Now if someone else can come up with a reason why it won't be the Strokes we will be all set

If that’s too much for Glastonbury then that will be why the strokes won’t play as they won’t budge from that fee from what I’ve been told
