I think they should be an outside bet to headline in the coming years. Think their Reading AM sub could push them as a real contestant for the pyramid in 2023/4 especially with the aim for a 50/50 split.

I fancy them opposite Billie on the Other this year.

Their first festival headline gig was Truck in 2019, i didnt really know them very well but it was absolutely sensational. Once the sun goes down i swear her voice hits another level of incredible.

They were great at Reading last year

That AM - Wolf Alice - Fontaines day is incredible

Although Harry Styles is bigger, with obvious quotas of streams and ticket sales, should it not be considered who is the main target demographic for upping those streams and ticket sales? Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying he doesn’t have a wide variety of a fan base now, is just imagine a large proportion of that fan base are 1D fans/younger girls who fawn over him. Not sure what Psys numbers where with Gangnam Style back in the day but I think there’s more to read into than just looking at the numbers when it comes to a Glastonbury headliner. In all honesty I have no issue with him headlining, although it would be majorly underwhelming to have both him and Billie set to headline in the same year

All this fuss to find out he's not only not headlining but also not playing the festival at all would be so this forum 😂

It's Macca (Saturday) and Kendrick (Sunday). I've told you all and now you're off having kittens about Harry Styles!

OK but is there anything to be said for Foals headlining?

Still confident about your info then? Any updates in the last couple days after the whole Macca out drama?

Confident enough in where it's originated. It's a little under 3 weeks since it arrived with me so unless when it came to me it was already "out of date" then no reason to doubt it.

No updates.

To be fair the Macca out drama was another poster who may well be legit so perhaps the origin of my info was already wrong when it got passed down the line?

Either way it was posted in good faith and we won't know until it's confirmed either way!

I think the typical Harry Styles listener now isn't just a crowd of screaming girls like back in the 1D days. His music has matured far beyond that stuff - his solo kinda shocked a lot of people into rock/indie that I know for being so much more than a pop record - and I think that's why he's in at Coachella and in the talks for Glasto. There's no way he gets that coachella headline if he was riding on being a member of 1D.

You're right with numbers not meaning everything, but they definitely mean something and its quite a substantial thing for him to have billions of listens on a number of tracks.

I think it draws a different crowd to Billie too, and if you have Macca there then its well balanced.

Have a few friends who will primarily only listen to indie guitar bands, mainly 00s indie landfill stuff, and they all love Harry Styles solo stuff. Not necessarily a measure of whether his material is any good of course, but shows he's broken the shackles of 'X-Factor band member' somewhat.

Exactly - I don't think this line of thought is anecdotal at this point, his success is a direct result of people having a positive opinion of him and his music.

Also 1D started 10(ish) years ago, so even if the fans are the same people they're 10 years older now.

Managed to get a ticket to that day and very much looking forward to it.

Coincidentally Wolf Alice was the last live band we saw on the farm as they headlined the Pilton party in 2019 with Supergrass also playing. The assumption was always they were both sure to play in 2020. Reckon they will be back after their performance at the live at worthy farm last summer.

You’d think they’ll be there, but them being in the US the week before and Germany on the Sunday doesn’t make them quite as nailed on as we thought.

Still more likely than not though.
