I think the hardest drug that has serious usage rises is Spice. it's just dumb criminalising it...sell soft drugs with health warnings etc...treat harder drugs like a medical issue, not a criminal issue. If I could easily go out and get some decent drugs without having to do the whole dodgy dealer thing I would, my liver needs a break from all the booze. lost
Aren't labour planning to ban cigarettes for new users? I can also easily see alcohol being targeted more and the sugar tax being rolled out to more things. It does seem to be the way we are going post-covid that governments are going to start legislating healthier lives

The opioid scandal shows this. I was given some steroids for my brain issues. I was well over prescribed for what I needed. A little bit of research showed me that those same pills are quite sought after in certain circles.

Most people don't use illegal drugs regularly. but you did not explain how it was working when the very things in place to reduce it have not reduced it, and I am not just talking class A as you quoted in your reply elsewhere and I am also talking about things not yet classed in this country too but known to be lethal. So make all the laws you want, add more and more to those laws and it will not make any difference, that has been my point and the point of others. There needs to be a new way to deal with it. Countries all over the world are doing it differently and perhaps it is time the UK joined in.

lost
I actually agree with both sides here. Something being illegal definitely dissuades quite alot of people from starting to do it but equally criminalising the people doing it seems a bad solution too. Aside from it affecting their lives anything organised crime can get involved it affects other people in their community too. I'm not sure what the answer is 🤷♂️ Edited September 6, 2023 by lost
