In 1989 in a speech at the UN the UK Prime Minister said

""We are seeing a vast increase in the amount of carbon dioxide reaching the atmosphere... The result is that change in future is likely to be more fundamental and more widespread than anything we have known hitherto.""

I was watching some program the other day and a group of school kids came to the conclusion Margaret Thatcher must of been some type of left wing hero for pushing global warming theory and closing down the British coal industry. The guy lecturing them didn't look too impressed at their conclusion 😂

means will be in news...will deepen distrust in Biden in certain quarters...will give further ammunition to Trump...

Trump likes to claim a witch hunt against him, this will show that is nonsense so it might not be any help to him.

Well its not really anymore. The minute labour became extremely comfortable with our entire manufacturing and heavy industry base being shipped over to China to reduce our emissions was when they started haemorrhaging support in the red wall.

It was quite a drastic change and you can see how a young person who hasn't heard of Thatcher could think she was labour.

I thought it was more the low carbon green thing = left....rather than kill manufacturing in this country = left....but whatever.

Rightly or wrongly but Thatcher did more to meet emissions standards by the decimation of coal. I wrote a paper on it when I was reading Environmental Protection and my Socialist supervisor was not happy even though I was a Socialist bordering on Communist. Still got a first for it.

she's like the anti christ to those on the left (only Blair comes out worse)...so they can't accept that she might have done anything that is good (ignoring the devastation to whole mining communities).

heres nothing to say that inflation will continue  to drop in the medium term

quite a lot to say that - fuel prices have stabilised, and wage growth to-date has been good enough to lessen that pressure going forwards.

Don't get me wrong I am no Thatcher apologist. I bought the Witch is dead record when she died. Her policies gave an indirect environmental bonus from breaking the unions which was her aim. I don't know how old you are but I remember for a while signing on in a queue that went down the street with my dad and uncles. That could never be forgiven.

It has always been more 'left' as that is where the Green party sit but until recently only the brain deads of the Reform Party on the right denied it all................... not lots of Tories are on that wagon too.

maybe not as old as you...I was on the dole for a while in late 80s but I don't remember a queue...and it was also a choice. I know early 80s it was real bad, my older brother who is proper lefty was collecting for miners and dressing like citizen smith, I was too busy reading smash hits.

Most of UN "policy" like Agenda 21 have socialist roots. This is the problem the right wing have with environmentalism. They see it as a socialist aka communist plot

Most policy based on science, fact and common sense is 'left'.

Most policy based on wealth and the acquisition of more wealth is based on short term greed is 'right'
