If Massive Attack don’t get replaced you could rationalise it in your mind by saying that this is what has been provided instead this year.

And Charli is still on the updated poster. Interesting. 🤔

We're so close to see it (idk which day but it has to be this week) that it doesn't make sense to spoil it. But right now I just want them to announce anything so I can confirm to myself that the schedule won't be out today and start to be productive pls

Nick Cave is by far the act I'm looking forward the most though. And it's not even close. It'll be the show of the festival, mark my words. 😉

That's an easy guess, Nick Cave is the highlight of literally every festival he's playing in. Best performer in the world IMO.

Two new ciutat gigs have appeared on the listings for Sala Vol.

7th - The Free Fall Band, Tuyo, Anger

8th - Nother, Koko, Her Skin

Good spot. Those are also all playing Primavera Pro in town.  Some Primavera Pro acts will also be playing at the Forum.

Is there a pattern to Primavera timetable announcements? A certain day/time they tend to be?

First timer here, in need of a Primavera Thingy like the Glastonbury one.

I wouldn't try to look for a pattern, it'll be some time this week.

Email from the festival presumably because they were fed up of people throwing shit in their comment sections:

Hello,

How are you?

On our side, with three weeks to go before the festival, we couldn’t be more excited to have made it this far: we’ve been looking forward to celebrating our 20th anniversary with all of you since we left Parc del Fòrum in June 2019.

So, we feel it’s only right to write to you once again to thank you for your confidence now that our 20th edition is here.

We are also aware of the many changes that have occurred from the moment when we announced Pavement as the first headliner, whilst still at the Fòrum in the middle of the festival in 2019, until today. Some of them have been, we hope, for the better. In other cases, due to situations beyond our control, we know that the changes may have caused some confusion or dissatisfaction. We wanted, therefore, to start by trying to be transparent with you on some of these issues.

There have been, and much to our regret, changes to the line-up. These variations fall within a certain logic considering that the booking of many of these names were closed in 2018, but we know that it is a disappointment and a let-down when it is announced (for us, too).

It upsets us that there are several bands that finally won’t be able to perform at Primavera Sound Barcelona - Sant Adrià 2022 for reasons resulting from different changes of plans in their respective careers, some are going through very different moments than they were in 2021 or even in 2020 others have been affected by some post-pandemic restrictions: some bands have split up, others have suffered serious personal problems, some are not contemplating doing tours whereas last year they wanted to, others are subject to the Covid legislation of their countries that would prevent them from continuing with their tours normally if they were to visit Europe....

Just as the changing global scene in recent months has translated into opportunities to bring in new artists and bands, allowing the line-up to be updated with fresh musical appearances, other eventualities have made it impossible for some of them to keep the festival on their schedule. And finding replacements when running against the clock is not only not easy, but also often impossible.

An event of the magnitude of ours is not easy to organise, and booking cycles often start a year and a half in advance. In fact, we are already working to ensure that 2023 will surpass what we consider today, this year’s festival, to be the best line-up in our history.

We also know that there have been doubts about the functioning of Primavera a la Ciutat, a cycle of concerts almost in itself and which gives continuity to a festival that extends over two weekends.

Our aim with these concerts in emblematic venues of the city, some of which are as closely linked to the history of Primavera Sound such as the Poble Espanyol, was to bring music back to its natural habitat and to contribute to the return to normal life in venues and clubs. They have undoubtedly been the main victims of the pandemic and we wanted them to be the protagonists of our return.

The quota of tickets that have been put on sale for these days is destined for the venues, who will receive the full amount of these tickets so that everyone can enjoy, at least to a certain extent, the return of Primavera Sound to the city. Although these measures were announced from the first day, we felt it was right to clarify them to avoid confusion or misunderstandings, as they were taken with the intention of adding something, never the other way round.

With all of this, and when we are about to publish the timetables, which we know is another of the most nerve-wracking moments of the year, we are about to open the gates of the Parc del Fòrum under those now mythical letters.

Thank you for joining us in what will undoubtedly be the most emotional, eagerly awaited, and exciting edition of our lives.

And thank you for your patience, your understanding and your faith: we told you that we "can’t do without you" and well, we have been able to do it... only with you.

We are not afraid to repeat ourselves: thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

The Primavera Sound team

IMO the message is clear, no replacement for MA and the money saved will be invested in the next edition. Business wise it makes totally sense, but not really in the interest of the ticketholders of this year’s edition.

set times tomorrow May 17th I guess

As we approach the festival, I know some people mentioned this a while back but I'm happy to bring it up again. Thoughts on a WhatsApp group for meeting, announcements and general tips and stuff for the festival? I'm happy to get it set up. I'm a newbie to Primavera so it'd be good to communicate with some others about the festival.

Thoughts?

If interested drop me a DM and if we get a few of us I'm happy to set a group up.

Just to add, not saying this group is SOLELY for meeting. It could just be used if there were any secret sets or things happening at the festival.

I'm still pretty sure they had some hidden stage/surprise gigs up their sleeve and decided not to add these to the bill but keep them as a surprise. They'll get a lot of slack now but I guess afterwards a lot of people will love them for it. The people coming specifically for Massive Attack are always going to be dissapointed. (Coming from Belgium I must say I'm a bit surprised at all the massive attack hassle: feels like that band has played here a gazillion times, no album since 2010 & those shows are nice for once but can get a bit boring when you see them again).

Would 100% recommend Gerona. You can get a 35 minutes train and it's such a beautiful city. You can see where they filmed some of the "Shame!" scene in Game of Thrones and the stairs up to King's Landing. There's a nice big park and there's even an amazing lake not far form the city called Lake Banyoles. One of my favourite day trips for sure.

If you want to stay coastal, I'd recommend Sitges, Sant Pol de Mar and Tossa de Mar.

Sounds fabulous. Is it doable to squeeze a day-trip to Girona and make it back to Ciutat? I read the last fast train leaves before 19:00

Definitely possible. Be aware the fast train has a light touch airport style security check so allow a couple extra minutes.
