Agreed on all apart from Pantera. I think they will hit up the US next summer. I reckon Alice In Chains will be one of the subs. Other one is hard to guess....maybe Nightwish or a big 'older' band on one of the Metallica days. Maybe Machine Head. Maybe Rob Zombie (though I feel they will do second).

I dont think it's even got anything to do with Outbreak and that Download just don't care. Slam Dunk and 2000trees manage to book a decent amount of Hardcore and there are still plenty of Hardcore fests that get unique line ups every year in the country. Download just mainly goes for Metalcore that's more popular within the metal community than the hardcore one. The only "pure" Hardcore band they booked this year was Higher Power and they played everywhere under the sun this year.

Definitely more than just heads, at this stage we can pretty much nail on acts like Architects. I expect something like this as the first drop (the bands were just chucked in without much thought)

I’d be pretty bummed if it wasn’t all headliners + a decent amount of the undercard. Considering Slipknot have been announced for other festivals and can’t see BMTH having an embargo then just makes sense to get them all on first announcement.

I mean, reviews were very sturdy for the USA leg, no? Imagine the Sheffield date will fly like hot cakes. They'll need some agreeable pricing to get a crowd in for Wembley and Hampden though.

Lytham is an arse to get in and out of, but think it is... 20,000 capacity?

Still, ninety minutes from both and a tidy support bill with 1500 doors. Could be great.

Was just on my way to post this, few European festivals that are being headlined by Def Leppard/Motley Crue have revealed a bit more. Trondheim Rocks is also the first confirmed sighting of Alter Bridge and a couple more

Motley sold out Wembley arena on their 'farewell' tour and def Lep play big arenas often with whitesnake. So not a out of the question if they need a bigger venue. 

I doubt it will sell out though 

I'm hoping joan jett and poison pop up like the US tour but seems unlikely 

Maybe steel panther for Lytham ? :') go full glam rock

Tbh I wasn't expecting Lytham to pull that out of the bag, seems a more compelling purchase than wembley considering it will likely be the same price and have a undercard

This would be terrible for me, Ghost need to be below the headliner...or maybe against Slipknot if it has to happen. Purely from my selfish point of view yes, before anyone says it 🤣

I’m sure in one of my predictions a few months ago I put them against BMTH on 2nd and I was absolutely ripped to shreds! Would be funny if it actually happened considering most regard them as main headline now.

Ghost aren't going to headline Second unless they scale it up to be the same size as the Main Stage.

Tends to be four-act bills at Lytham, so if they stick to the US itinerary, will likely be the same across Europe.

Did The Strokes at Lytham and the sound was all over the shop, to a point - it's slightly back from an exposed beach front; picturesque, but open to the elements.

It is also, being a small seaside town, a logistical slog to get out of, but probably no worse than a post-Wembley crush heading down the way to the underground station.

The rumour I saw, which obviously is not to be taken as anywhere near serious until proven otherwise, was that it was to placate those mad about BMTH headlining.

So the double denim crowd like Ghost? Isn't it a bit leftfield for them with the look 🤣? Suppose they toured with Metallica extensively which will have got them some brownie points in their eyes.

Ghost are squarely in the nerd metal bracket with Nightwish, Sonata Arctica etc. I say that with love, but they will definitely appeal to the DDs more than BMTH

That said, if Download have Ghost clashing with BMTH, this festival deserves its inevitable fate.
