Summer Event & Festival Crew NEEDED

Summer B

Recommended Posts

We are currently recruiting festival crew for summer 2021. We have a number of roles available for traffic marshals, stewards, cleaners and litter pickers. This is a great opportunity if you are looking to get into Events Management in the future!

What each of these mean

Managing on-site or off-site traffic - this means ensuring internal traffic systems are run efficiently and that customers reach car parks, production traffic reaches the right location on-site, artists to the correct stage ect. We implement this by directing traffic around site, checking that vehicles have the correct accreditation to be in certain areas and parking vehicles in the correct car park according to their purpose.

Waste Management – placing general waste, recycling and glass bins across sites, removing full bin bags and transporting to the waste compound which usually contains a skip. We also have litter pickers to wander around site eradicating any litter that is visible, either for the pre-event site clean-up, during the event or after the event to ensure that the land is returned to its original condition.

Cleaning- sometimes clients require cleaning or sanitising operatives to ensure that the site is well-maintained and hygienic, they may ask us to specifically target toilet blocks, artist changing rooms, backstage areas, food areas or exhibition spaces. This role may involve using sanitising spray, hoovering, cleaning windows, surfaces or floors.

Crowd Safety- clients may ask for stewards to direct and answer any questions from the general public, monitor fire safety on fire towers and report if there are any fires or security problems in the arena or campsite to the appropriate authority, manage pedestrian walkways on-site and look after the safety of the public at events.

What are we looking for?

  • We’re looking for someone to join us as crew first, gain experience with how we work and what we do. All of our current Team Leaders and Operations Managers started off as crew and built up their knowledge and skills which allowed them to progress, we expect everyone to do this.
  • Competence, ingenuity, resourcefulness, understanding of the events industry, interest in events and festivals, to be able to work well in a team, reliable with excellent time-keeping and good work ethic.
  • We don’t expect you to be free for the entire summer, pick a couple of events and see how you feel about working on-site and with us as a company.
  • Someone who is able to live outdoors in a tent for weeks at a time!
  • Someone who understands that event work can be difficult with long hours, logistical problems and be stressful at times.
  • Someone who can maintain a good work-life balance – all of us enjoy watching bands and socialising after hours but you must understand that work comes first.
  • Someone who is able to organise themselves and others for example packing waterproofs to pre-empt bad weather and an alarm clock – phones die onsite!
