Little Simz Has Upped Her Game

Gave it one spin, loved it. I never really listened to the singles until the tiny desk (and when she played them at APE) so all the songs sounded really fresh. Standing Ovation has insane energy. The production is lush.

Yepppp as expected this album is fucking great. Will probably be skipping the spoken word interludes on repeat listens, but damn if there aren’t some fantastic songs here with excellent production throughout.

I knew I wouldn't get it on release day as I have a big group of pre-orders but usually I get the e-mail to say it has arrived and this release takes me over the £50 free delivery so was going to e-mail as soon as I got it to tell them it was time to split the order so that I would get it early next week. 

I have finished first listen though and it is sublime. Looking forward to hearing the vinyl when it arrives.

It's not normally a genre (and I know it's a pretty broad genre) that does anything for me, but this is great. There's such variety in the tracks, and the production is spot on. Love that big sweeping feel of Introvert as an opener, the bop of Protect My Energy, the choir on How Did You Get Here, it's all good.  Her vocal style is just effortless.  Love it.

I’m fully on board with this now.

Honestly didn’t think she was headliner material when I saw her a few years ago.

But this album and her much improved on stage presence have changed my mind.
