Did anyone see D Block Europe this year, how did they go down? Noticed loads of people who got their photos on the screens wanted to see them but by all accounts they were shite

I wanted to see them, as I've found them to be fairly decent (for what they are) when I've seen them live before, but didn't make it out of the campsite in time. However, some of my friends who enjoy their music said it was a fairly decent set (but not one of their best), then others who I know that aren't really into them said it wasn't great at all.

BMTH deserve to be booked as a headliner in the 3, but they would need 2 very strong bookings alongside. And a very good undercard too (maybe co-headliner).

21 Pilots were about as big, they'd had 1 breakout song and FR booked them thinking more was to come, given they were doing the soundtrack to Suicide Squad. There wasn't more.

21 pilots had absolutely rammed out the R1 tent in 2016 against co-headliners Disclosure, reckon more had to be there than at the main stage

They were an easy option to co-headline themselves in 2019 and had a massive crowd again

Yeah, got sent a few pics of the crowd at Leeds, was pretty sizeable. To be fair to them, they have another 2 nights at the O2 later this year and in a couple days it seems to have sold pretty well (and a second date being added pretty quick), especially with them selling the O2 and Manc Arena out on their most recent tour last year.

Their most recent album Home Alone 2 has a goat on the album artwork - would imagine that's why.

D-Block’s crowd at Leeds was nowhere near as big as I was expecting. I was anticipating one of the biggest crowds of the weekend but it definitely wasn’t that.

They are complete guff to me, though. One of the tiny handful of acts I saw and actively thought ‘This is dog shit’ (along with Bru-C and bbno$).

My money is on Loyle Carner to headline the smaller main stage. New album coming out, big tour with a wembley arena date, has headlined smaller festivals and twitter was non stop asking for him after the drop outs.

I reckon he’d sub or play 3rd down looking at the venues he’s playing.

Carti under any of Eminem, Travis Scott or Kendrick would be a gold mine for day tickets.

I don't like Carti's music and find him absolutely indistinguishable from Polo G, for example, but his live shows look awesome, so I would definitely go along to his set.

Did he play Wireless this year? Because that's the competition when booking him, isn't it.

Saw Carti in July at Rolling Loud Europe in Portugal and he was unreal.

He also played Wireless and Longitude in Ireland

Yeah, did Wireless this year as a UK exclusive

Who actually the most likely rap headliner tho, there’s no real British artist of the ilk who’s headline material who hasn’t played in the last 2 festivals (Stormzy/Dave). Eminem seems slightly uninspiring, Kendrick seems to be not in many predictions, the Weeknd and Travis just don’t seem to be creating much fuss?

Skepta probably the only other UK rapper that could headline just about

Kendrick is my prediction as the biggest name at the festival next year. His album tour is this year (of 9 arena dates I think) so it works fine. Been a hot minute, too.

Travis or Weeknd would create plenty of fuss though.

Yeah, Skepta isn’t headlining either Main Stage at R&L. 100% a solid sub booking IMO.

Skepta as MSW headliner wouldn’t be the most out of place booking with a strong MSE headliner and undercard (special guest day) - personally would love SK to get a shot at MSW headline

Agreed, Travis or The Weeknd would create a load of fuss, especially after Travis' recent dates at the O2 which seemed to have gone down great and got a very positive reception.

I think next year The Weeknd will just stick to his own stadium dates and from what I can see, doesn't have any festivals coming up (so far at least), so he'd have to change the production up a fair bit for R&L to facilitate him and his current show.

Kendrick or Eminem also are options, as well as Cardi B imo (with a new album due).

Personally I'd say out of the 'big' rap/r&b names my choices for likelihood would be either Travis, Kendrick or Cardi. Unless we got something a bit more out there like Nicki Minaj, or smaller rap headliners on MSW such as ASAP Rocky, Future, maybe even Skepta etc.

Is Nicki Minsk still a thing, I thought she was finished about a decade ago

Nicki Minaj would bomb, 10 years to late. Weeknd wouldn't go down that well either I don't think, compared to other hip hop acts they could get.

Eminem, Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar with Eminem being the most likely choice.

MSE

Dua Lipa or Billie Eilish (sub Jamie T)

Eminem or Travis Scott (sub Playboi Carti)

My Chemical Romance or Blink 182 (sub Yungblud)

MSW

Sam Fender or Kasabian (sub Loyle Carner)

Doja Cat or Lizzo (sub Aitch)

Paramore or Foals (sub Don Broco)

Imagine Nicki Minaj headlining in 2012/13. She would have been crucified.

Not sure Billie or Dua will be touring next year. Think Kendrick is the most likely rap act with his tour this year and new album out. Kasabian over Sam Fender due to his big shows. Paramore and Kasabian are more likely than Foals I’d say and I’m not sure they’d book both Kasabian and Foals in headline slots, think it’d be one or the other. Not sure about Jamie T due to his Finsbury shows, might end up headlining the smaller festivals like Sam Fender last year. MGK and Cardi B have got to be in with shots of headlining, think MGK is highly likely after his recent success and arena tour this year.
