If they were billing this year as the ‘return to rock’ then there’s no chance of more than one rock/emo band. It’ll most likely be:

Indie x2 / rock / pop / rap / rnb

Were they billing it as a return to Rock?  Was just BMTH that said it didn’t they?

I think he could headline MSW. More relevant to the target audience than Disclosure, Biffy Clyro and arguably  Halsey from the last two lineups. Also, bookings of Muse, Dua and Kendrick would weigh heavily on the budget.

Yeah honestly, I could see it happening - it's a tough one to call, I'd certainly have him has a MSE sub or special guest at this point at the very least.

The guy played academies 5 years ago and has done nothing since. Never even heard of him. Wouldn't be anywhere NEAR a main slot next year as far as I can tell.

That didn't mean to sound so snippy, just a bit baffled 😅

His festival slots this year have drawn some of the biggest crowds of the weekend, and tickets for his shows sold out very fast, I can certainly see him overtaking the likes of AJ Tracey in terms of popularity. Am interested to see how fast the WHP date sells out given it's 18+ - but I think at this point regardless it is still a guaranteed sellout. I really think if he is at R&L next year and doesn't get a Wireless exclusive (if he's there), he'll be placed in a big logo slot.

They’ll have got that line from somewhere you’d think, I know they’re experimenting with their own sound to move away from ‘traditional rock’ but they won’t have been the only ones thinking it

They were billing RATM as the return of rock, weren't they?

If we're going on the same booking ethos then (original booking, not replacements) -

Stormzy -> Dave -> Cardi B

Post Malone -> Megan Thee Stallion -> Tyler the Creator

Liam Gallagher -> Arctic Monkeys -> Billie Eilish

Disclosure -> Halsey -> Doja Cat

Queens of the Stone Age -> Rage Against the Machine -> Blink 182

Catfish & Bottlemen -> Bring me the Horizon -> Paramore

4 female headliners?

MSE // Cardi B | Billie Eilish | Blink 182

MSW // Doja Cat | Tyler the Creator | Paramore

No way is there no lad rocky headliner.

Sounds like Foals. It’s better than After Laughter for me.

I thought After Laughter had a very clear Foals/Two Door Cinema Club/The 1975/et al influence. The band had clearly been listening to British Indie that was popular at the time and taking notes.

I think swap MCR with Blink, and perhaps Eminem with Cardi or Travis Scott and we have it

Blink’s a possibility for sure but I’m certain MCR will be back on the festival circuit next year after doing their own tour this year and R&L makes the most sense. Blink for 2024, maybe?

Fully with you on trading Eminem out, I think it could be any of the two you mentioned just as much.
