NorthernSoul52
Dream State in Leeds last night, and I do try to lean positive in these verdicts, so I'll say that there was some promising energy from them. But the sound mix drowned out the vocalist immensely, and songs did just seem to bleed into one another without too much tone or difference. Ultimately ducked before the encore, something I try to actively avoid unless transportation means I must, but in this instance, it just sadly wasn't up to snuff. Saw them with the old singer at slammy d some time back. She was really something, so much so, I've mostly ignored the new iteration. How is the new singer on a front level? But whether it was down to the setting or the size of the box stage at the venue, she was also seemed reluctant between songs. Hawked the merch, gave a few smiles, but didn't hold you in the palm of the hand. This being said, virtually everyone else there last night appeared to be having a great time, and I had come off a pretty rough day. I'd like to give them another shake. Quark
PSB did not disappoint last night. Great stuff, new tracks sounded really good and the stage set up was lush. Plus dancing cosmonauts. 1

Got tickets to see em in Bexhill at the de la warr pavilion, at least part-inspired by your ticket quest! They're such a strange band, really looking forward to it (admittedly its at the end of march, which is a wee while away)

NorthernSoul52
Off to Chelsea Wolfe this evening, which seems fitting for the date. It's in an Irish centre, which is less fitting, but we move.

NorthernSoul52
A tidy eighty-five minutes at Chelsea Wolfe tonight, though significantly less of a song and dance made about the date than expected. A very good performance.
charlierc
Went to go see Public Service Broadcasting in Aylesbury last night. Only just got in as the show was about to start after a nightmare with parking but band themselves - top marks. Did Sputnik and Night Mail, which I'm happy with, plus also we got a song I gather they hadn't played in years and lots of light-up skull masks for everyone but the main guy who jokingly called them unapproved. Was a good night. Edited November 1, 2024 by charlierc

Porcelina
The Antlers were absolutely stunning at Union Chapel on Wednesday. Will still never know why they never reached the same scale that a lot of the late 00s P4K indie darlings did.

EERA was great as well. It was quite a nice little dynamic and a long way from the early days when I gather it was just one man by himself. The Nal
So there was lots to celebrate, if you could overlook Dylan’s comically ham fisted faux jazz piano playing mixed ludicrously loud, his tendency to come in on odd bars that would throw his band out of rhythmic step, and to arbitrarily switch between piano, harmonica and an extra loud electric guitar on pointless solos that started and finished without going anywhere in particular. Songs concluded not in an artfully crafted climax, but a state of chaotic collapse signalled by Dylan hammering keys with all the panache of a tone deaf drunk who has lost control of his fingers. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/music/concerts/bob-dylan-bournemouth-international-centre-review/
kk1977
Faithless in Edinburgh last night. Band sounded great. Both new singers have great voices - obviously different to Maxi but they added a different spin on things. Atmosphere and crowd good. I thought the start and end were great but things went a bit flat in the middle. I think they need to cut back a bit on the covers.
mufcok
Saw Fontaines in Madrid last night. 11th time seeing them. That'll be 14 by Christmas (I know, I know.. ) Really have established themselves now. Insanely good.
