Saw Fontaines in Madrid last night. 11th time seeing them. That'll be 14 by Christmas (I know, I know.. )

Really have established themselves now. Insanely good.

Out of interest why do you think they’ve turned down Glastonbury but are playing Rock Werchter?

Maybe positioning themselves for a bigger spot 1 day I guess?

That would be the obvious answer.

I'll have more on that, with an accurate answer, this time next month.

Dream Wife at Birkenhead Future Yard last night. Last night of the tour and clearly having a great time, inviting all the "bad bitches" down to the front created a great atmosphere. Rakel (singer) told there'd be no festival shows next year, tour is done, finished. Presumably this means they'll be working on a new album.

Support was from Shefu, pretty decent. One to keep an eyo on.

Blossoms last night at Hammersmith, they really have developed in to a stunning live band. They were always fun live but Tom has now become a real polished front man. I am still a little puzzled as to how they are not more popular.

Also, had the bonus of Red Rum Club and Overpass as support.

Couple of gigs over the weekend. Saw Interpol at Manchester Apollo on Sat night. Good to hear Antics in full and a few others, good loud crowd. New venue for me very impressed, easy in and out and no major wait at the bars.

Then picked up last minute Barry Cant Swim tickets at Brixton on the train home. Top stuff that, crowd on good form and it was LOUD in there. Standard long bar queues downstairs in the stalls.

Overall a top weekend.

Heading to see them at Alexandra Palace on Friday night. Hoping I get a similarly entertaining evening.

The Saw Doctors are a bit of an annual ritual for us and they were terrific as always at Hammersmith last Thurs. Not a band I listen to much in between but they are good fun live.

Can't do Interpol on Fri in London but friends were raving about the Mcr gig so am sure they will be great.

The Cult last night at the Royal Albert Hall, still smashing it after all these years. I did think they could have made a better effort with the staging and lighting as all seemed a little dull, not even a name banner but they sounded quality.
