In the actual literal sense.

So much talent that I’m surprised they’re not getting more notice. Would highly recommend checking them out live, such a smooth good time ol’ band. How was the magic man? Pretty much echoing all the posts on here today, a near perfect gig. Loving reading everyone's thoughts on it! So glad we went, and being on the floor was so worth it. At Glastonbury, just by its very nature, I felt like we missed out on the show and the intimate side of actually being at a gig of an actual Beatle, so last night was a completely different experience. Too many highlights to mention but Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End is an extraordinary piece of music. I also found a huge appreciation for the Wings stuff last night too, had Band on the Run (the album) on all day. The sound quality was insane, the atmosphere was electric. Also agree with @Badlands about Hey Jude at Glastonbury, I guess when its 4-6x the amount of people in that field it will give it a bit extra. That and Let It Be were probably the ones that I would look back slightly more fondly at the Glastonbury versions, but pretty much everything else I enjoyed more last night. Live and Let Die, with the flames and fireworks, was incredible indoors. There's my hungover brain dump!!
Talcroft
Last one of the year for me, A G Cook at New Century (Manchester) (currently my absolute favourite venue). Unplanned last minute ticket from a mate but chuffed as I'd been trying to source one! High speed, high energy set from the long time collaborator of Charli XCX... I initially got on with Cook better than Charli tbh, notwithstanding the tour de force that is Brat. This was a carefully curated set, hard to do when you have a 3 "disc" album but mostly well structured to build the party with Britpop threatened throughout until the crescendo, though for me the uptempo'd Beautiful was the pinnacle. Strong claim for a decent after dark slot on levels, although I wouldn't mind seeing him in Romy's Sunday afternoon slot on Woodsies. Charli superfans would be there, and if she gave him a shout out it'd be packed out - rightly so.
Supernintendo Chalmers
The Prodigy at Civic Halls, Wolverhampton last night. Typical great show from the lads. As I've said on here before, I'd prefer it if they shuffled the setlist a bit, throw some rarities in but it was largely the same set as they've been playing since the hiatus, albeit in a different order. Starting with "Voodoo People" is outrageous. However, they did debut a new track, early on. "Fight" would appear to be its name. Not much to it at the moment, I wonder if it's a work in progress? Feels like it needs something more. Apart from that, we got a Christmas bells edit of "Smack" and that's about it. Still great though. Special mention for the Civic Halls in Wolverhampton. My first time there, really impressed. Lots of staff everywhere, all friendly and very well organized. Easy access to bars and WCs (where I was). Quite intimate, double balconies, easy to get out afterwards. Would definitely come back.

The floor can get too packed at certain gigs, but the venue is like nowhere else. It feels like you're in a theatre - in addition to the friendly, overabundant staff, they also close the room doors during the gigs to stop light getting in. They have a lot of bars on every level, and if they can, like at Paul Heaton on sunday, they open up the bars in the Wulfrun venue too to ease congestion. And it cost me a mere £10.50 for a 2 pinter of Amstel! I live 5 minutes walk from Brum Academy, but always prefer gig announcements to be at the civic. Saw Radiohead when he was 6 at V Festival. We bond over old school rock mostly though - I’ve taken him to see Sabbath, Rush, Kiss, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Whitesnake etc. Catch em while you can!

The sound system in there has always been utterly brilliant. Seen/heard some cracking stuff. One of the first "proper" gigs I ever went to was there actually - Hard Fi in 2005 🤣 Edited 36 minutes ago by Stokesy10
