Supernintendo Chalmers
Went to see Showhawk Duo at SWX in Bristol last night on the "acoustic rave" tour. Saw them for the first time at Camp Bestival in the summer and enjoyed it but the sound of a couple of acoustic guitars didn't really come across very well on an open air stage. Indoors last night was much better, as I'm sure it would be in a festival tent. Loads of fun, nothing too serious, very talented guys
maelzoid
I was at Brizzle SWX on Friday night for Charlotte Church. I have seen the pop dungeon show before and it is remarkably entertaining, I had a great time. A shame that they are calling it a day. theciderviking
The Lottery Winners last night at Albert Hall Manchester. What.A.Gig! 😍🤩 Talk about ‘embracing’ their success. 😉

What.A.Gig! 😍🤩 Talk about ‘embracing’ their success. 😉 Good gig. They're an excellent live band. Remember seeing them in The Masons in Atherton years ago, they've come a long way since then. Just a shame that Rob has taken the BWFC sticker off his guitar.

I had no idea who they were but they were brilliant, and one of my favourite memories of that weekend! I haven't listened to any of their music since then, but I really should. blue6field
Final show of a fantastic year! the Mighty Mogwai at the Barrowlands, what a show! Almost religious in parts! Popsider75
Going to finish the year seeing Deja Vega in Blackburn next Friday. Probably my favourite current band. Their first couple of albums are superb. Hope they can be added to the farm bill for June.

Ayrshire Chris
Apart from Glastonbury the best gig we’ve seen all year was Frank Turner. A great gig, the SWG in Glasgow all standing, dancing, could hardly see the stage due to tall folk, but a real throwback to what gigs should be like. A great setlist and Frank really engaged with the crowd.

Seen him 11 times now and always find myself at one of his shows when he tours again.
sfroml
Went to see EMF last night at the Brudenell in Leeds. Saw them support Carter in Birmingham circa 2009? Thought they were okay at the time but last night they were really excellent. Great stage presence, very entertaining and a great setlist. So good I'm tempted to buy tickets for the Kubix Festival to see them again along with Neds Atomic Dustbin. My wife originally wanted to go and sorted out the tix but couldn't go last night, my son took her place and I felt bad telling her this morning how good they'd been..... EamerRed
I know he's part of the Glasto furniture now, but just saw Beans on Toast yet again. ****ing love the bloke. Said he has a day off tomorrow and has organised people who went to the gig to go have some beers in a park with him tomorrow. Legend. blue6field
Just back from The Delgados at The Barrowlands. 18 years since they last toured and well worth the wait! Absolutely brilliant night band never sounded better! Let slip they’re playing the bandstand this Summer ! Not to be missed!
Gnomicide
Frank Turner in Buckley, North Wales last night. Usual quality gig, great tunes, great crowd, nice little venue that I haven't been to in years. Support from The Lottery Winners. Seen them a couple of times now, very entertaining with some of the best between songs chat you'll get anywhere. Opening act were Wilswood Buoys. Alright but nothing to get excited about.

Quark
I think I caught part of them at BDs in 2021, quite an early set. If they're who I think they are then yep.

badleg08
White flowers last night at Future Yard in Birkenhead for Independent Venue Week. Excellent live band destined for bigger things. First time at Future Yard. Great place. Just feels authentically grass roots. Would love a venue like that in Warrington. It’s exactly what we need in Warrington! Gutted there’s so little in the way of live music around here these days, I tend to head into Manchester now. I've still not been there, was due just before Christmas but the gig was cancelled (found out while at the bus stop!). I'm rectifying it next month for Beans on Toast, I've only heard good things about the place. Important question though, how much is a pint? Gnomicide
I went to Liverpool Arena for The Darkness and Black Stone Cherry on Sunday night. Free tickets (I ain't paying £50 for that) so going in with no expectations. The Darkness are a fun act with a few decent tunes, the set was interrupted by an alarm going off and the building being evacuated after one song. Soon back in though and it sort of improved the atmosphere in a bizarre way. Black Stone Cherry aren't great, basically New Country with a distortion peddle and drum solos. Not horrific but not for me. Support was from Danko Jones. Again, alright but not someone I'd listen to at home. Still.. as I say, it was free and a better way to spend a Sunday night than watching Vera.
