pilton digger
Saw the Brian Jonestown Massacre in Bristol on Sunday night. Second night of the tour and it was really good. Anton stopped a couple of numbers to tell the band how he wanted it played and to start again. Lots of 12 strings and guitar swaps between every number slowed proceedings but we got a full 2 hour set. First time seeing them since Glastonbury in 2014 and they didn't disappoint. Interestingly, he pointed out that at most sold out gigs he announces a competition on twitter etc involving tickets for charity donations. If you send him a screen shot of a donation you get tickets. Only 2 people did it for Bristol and they got 2 tickets each. He said that anyone who does it will get tickets even if it is officially sold out.

Ummed and ahhed about getting a ticket, but tbh I'd probably fall sleep standing up if I was to go this week!

I'm rectifying it next month for Beans on Toast, I've only heard good things about the place. Important question though, how much is a pint? Was drinking Lilley’s cider in bottles. Can’t remember exactly but just under a fiver I think. Really great place though. Keen to go back for one of their all-dayers that include the outside stage too.

Free tickets (I ain't paying £50 for that) so going in with no expectations. The Darkness are a fun act with a few decent tunes, the set was interrupted by an alarm going off and the building being evacuated after one song. Soon back in though and it sort of improved the atmosphere in a bizarre way. Black Stone Cherry aren't great, basically New Country with a distortion peddle and drum solos. Not horrific but not for me. Support was from Danko Jones. Again, alright but not someone I'd listen to at home. Still.. as I say, it was free and a better way to spend a Sunday night than watching Vera. Got free tickets to this as well. Used to be a huge BSC fan as a teenager, gone off them now but I’ll go for the nostalgia trip. Glad to hear it was semi decent, should be a good night tomorrow. If you've been a fan at any point I'm sure you'll love it, I only knew 2 songs. They put on a good show and are clearly very good at what they do. theciderviking
Hot Chip at Warehouse Project Manchester tonight, absolutely incredible as they always are. 😍 The whole bill was amazing…even the sniffer dogs were very friendly 👀🙈😂. One seemed very keen on a cuddle, despite me having nothing I should have had on me (as they discovered after a very personal search! 😳) IMG_2999.MOV

What.A.Gig! 😍🤩 Talk about ‘embracing’ their success. 😉 Saw the Lottery Winners support Frank Turner last night in Brighton. Hadn't listened to them before. Possibly one of the most interesting and engaging support acts I've seen - really got the crowd going. They've got something special about them. Immediately booked to see them in Brighton in April. Hope to see them on the farm!

Quark
Went to see Swim School (indie rock, bit Wolf Alice-y) in Worthing on Saturday night as part of IVW, support from local bands The Daylight and Niches. Both decent enough, nice seeing local acts getting the support slots for gigs like this. Swim School were good, down to a 3 piece now since the bass player stepped away last year so had the bass lines recorded separately, which worked pretty well once I'd got used to it. Very small venue with a quiet crowd so took them a while to get the vibe up, but managed it in the end. Politest moshpit I've ever seen 😄 @Alex DeLarge did you go see them in the end? Gnomicide
Red Rum Club at Jimmy's in Liverpool last night. IVW gig, maybe 200 there which is probably what they would normally get in some parts of the country but up here they sold out a couple of nights at the Olympia which houses a few thousand in December. Great gig, cracking atmosphere, some bloke near me asking them several times if they were playing Glastonbury to which they said "don't know, you'll have to ask our agent". Yeah I caught them last night, cheers for the recommendation! A lot of fun I thought. They do the combination of dreamy and heavy stuff really well. Alice has great presence and they seemed to be having a great time playing together. I met her afterwards (forgot to ask her about the farm!) and told her I'd see them in a big venue next time they're round these parts. circus92
Carly Rae Jepsen. First night of tour. Dublin Saturday night. One of the most fun nights I have had in many years. Electric atmosphere right from the start, great crowd and she rattled through 26 songs in around 1hr 40. I have never seen her live before but went with high expectations and she still managed to exceed them. Would love to see her booked for the farm this year - she would be perfect for the JP tent.
