W.A.S.P in camden on friday.

one of the greatest rock n' roll shows you could ever hope to see.

their first album is one of my favourite records of all time, but i've only ever seen them live once before back in '97 (or may have been '99 cant remember for sure).

Blackie must be pushing 70 but he is still every bit the great front man, and that voice!

no idea who the other guys are in the band these days, but whoever the lead guitarist was was freaking awesome.

it was absolutely brilliant.

This is disappointing to hear, I had tickets to the Manchester gig but had to duck out due to having covid. I'd convinced myself they were probably shit.

Fuck, that takes me back to being a teenage metal head. I loved W.A.S.P so much aged 16. Saw them only once in around ‘93 I think? Was utterly mental, in a massively over the top way. It was great.

Much chewing on raw meat and codpiece pyrotechnics this time round?

the theatrics were very much toned down this time - the stage set was cool, and it was just straight forward good ol' rock n roll.

i had a look on setlist fm and it must have been 1999 that i saw them previously as i saw them at the LA2 and apparently that was the only time they played there.

i remember coming out of the show feeling like i'd been tarred and feathered as they covered everyone in fake blood and shot feathers out of cannons from the stage.

i can't remember the last time i came out of a gig with a massive smile on my face thinking i'd just witnessed something special - but that's what happened on friday!

Went to see Eels last night at the Roundhouse and not entirely sure what to make of it.

Good set length (2 hours/25 or so songs). The new stuff sounds decent live.

It was very much lacking many well-known songs. Also played a few covers that didn't hit the mark. Previously I've enjoyed a lot of their live covers - Raspberry Beret and and Love and Mercy have been great.

The crowd seemed pretty flat, probably due to the lack of recognisable songs. E was on good form and the band sounded great but the show just seemed to be lacking something, falling a bit short of their usual high live standards.

Off to see everybody’s eleventh or twelfth favourite Britpop band Space on Friday in Chester (a bit mean that, they have a few boss tunes) but only cos I’ve found out that Oranj Son are the support. They just turn up every now and then, little notice, and sound brilliant. I had already boxed off tickets for Liverpool for them in a few weeks but this is a cool bonus. Sound is really good at Live Rooms and they absolutely deserve good quality tech.

I saw Space last year, they were great!

Went and watched Franc Moody last night in Bristol, awesome band and so good live.

I had a contact in the band, who confirmed there was a booker from West Holts checking them out last night also so don't be surprised to see them appear on the lineup!

I saw them in London last Friday! So so good. Really hope they play glasto

Saw DMA's in Liverpool at the Cavern last night. Atmosphere was amazing - it was an album launch show and was acoustic  (with three people playing music + the singer so it wasn't as stripped back as I expected). Just one big singalong and obviously a pretty iconic venue

Saw Suede supported by The Sprints on Friday at Southampton Guildhall. Brett Anderson on excellent form. Old hits as well as stuff from new album. Enjoyed The Sprints too, one band to watch.

I've heard the Sprints a few times on 6 Music and really like them so glad to hear they're good live too.
