Went to All Points East - the Death Cab / Postal Service day.
Pretty amazing line up if you’re into that kind of thing… it was a really good opportunity for me to see bands I should’ve seen back in the day but stupidly didn’t…felt like a massive treat to get them all in one day.

Saw Sleater Kinney for the first time and wondered why I’d not made the effort before as they were really good fun.

Yo La Tengo, filling much of their short set with a rambling version of some song I didn’t know!

Decemberists were pretty good, another one I’d never seen. Left them halfway through to get to Phoenix. (Via a quick look in on the self esteem DJ set)

Phoenix closing off their epic world tour, I saw them play the same set to a tiny crowd in Woodsies in 22, they were great as always. Mad that they were only just ending that tour two years later.

Then Death Cab and Postal Service .. bands I should’ve definitely seen years ago too.. bloody love Postal Service and kicked myself for not seeing them on a previous anniversary tour so having the opportunity to catch them on the next anniversary was great .  They didn’t disappoint.. it was perfect.

Really liked All Points East too, nice little festival, if you ignore the commercial side.. the staging and sound seemed good and it wasn’t too hectic.. managed to get right down the front for Phoenix and a decent spot for the headliners.

Lemon twigs were fantastic last night. Tchotchke were the surprise of the night though, really f**king good

Just seen them tonight. Christ, what a show. 12 strings, Hofner bass, three part harmonies and Peter Tork haircuts, what’s not to like. Show just kept getting better and better.

Cheers for the support recommendation as well - listened to them this morning and loved them so got along early.

Bit late with the update recently been to Manchester Psych fest  a few weeks ago where amongst others saw HEartworms - not much material yet - but it looks like the start of something brillian - Album has been confirmed but not yet released - but it got me very excited.

Jack White at Liverpool Academy last night. Felt a bit short changes as it was only 1hr 15, shorter than he'd been playing elsewhere but what we did get was excellent show. Solo, Raconteurs and White Stripes songs all thrown in.

Been looking at the setlists cos I’m off to Brighton to see him tonight - 24 songs in London and 16 in Liverpool seems like a drastic difference, wonder what we’re in for tonight?

Jack White was on top form I thought.

What did you make of Triage?

not great - didn’t mind the sub-Sonic youth noodly stuff and occasional lovely big riff, but the vocals ranged from alright to fairly sh*t to be honest. And yeah, Jack White was great, love the different versions of the White Stripes tunes, kept it fresh!

Saw The Teskey Brothers at Manchester Apollo recently.  They're a great live band, but the extended versions with ad lib lyrics and noodly guitar solos I could do without.  Drop that sh*t and they could have fit 2-3 extra songs in the set.

Support was Liz Stringer.  OK, but not really my bag.  If you like War on Drugs, you'd probably like her stuff.

First time at the Apollo.  Great venue and fantastic acoustics.  £7.50+ a pint though.

£7.50 - Woof

Yeah.  I had a San Miguel, Mrs 4AM had a cider of some sort.  £15.50.

Still like the venue though.  We got fairly close to the front but could still see well due to the slope.

I meant "I've not been to the apollo for ages"

I think the last gig I saw there was the Prodigy, just before Keith died. So it has been a while.
