Looking at some of the names mentioned and considering the efests opinion that the quality of vocals is irrelevant as the crowd sing-a-long will mask any poor performances, it seems that the "legend" slot is effectively a karaoke set.

Why not do away with booking anyone and just do a karaoke event, lyrics on the big screens, get some security dancing on the stage, job done!

Don't we need to save that for Wednesday and Thursday to avoid overcrowding up at the Park for Baggy Mondays etc?

Looking at his current setlist, Rod's basically doing heritage karaoke.  For someone with a hefty back catalogue there's a shiteload of covers in there.

He's never really been much of a songwriter.  Songs like Sailing and I Don't Want To Talk About It may be covers, but his are still the versions that most people know.

Could easily get inbetween them 2 dates. All other dates are close together to so the fact there’s a good week gap could be an indicator.

Is a strange gap, but I don’t see why he’d arrange a U.S. tour and decide to do Glastonbury slap bang in the middle of it - just doesn’t make any sense.

If he'd been invited to the best festival in the world as the "legend" I could see it. Don't believe it's happening though as much as I'd love to belt Summer of 69 out on Sunday.

Definitely strange - but it wouldn't be unique, U2 booked their tour exactly that way. Twice actually, and with a shorter gap either side.

Rod Stewart. I remember my Dad listening to him all the time (Elvis and Stones too) he would allow me age 8ish to stand up in the Ford Granada sunroof thing that you wound back. I loved it. Rod was before I thought about what and wasn't teenage "cool". Maggie May.... I would  go to see him for my 89 year old dad and for me too.

When I was at school in the 70s the girls were in three distinct groups, teenyboppers into the osmonds, David Cassidy etc, that group was to be avoided at all costs, the ones who worshiped Rod Stewart and Elton, acceptable , and the few who joined us cool RAF coat wearing lads going to heavy and prog rock gigs.  I married one of them!❤️.
We’d love to see Rod doing the legend. , my musical tastes have evolved!

Jets over for the remaining BST date on the 23rd and then the legends slot on 25th?

The only doubt about the BST date is that someone mentioned it was Justin Bieber on the 23rd but they may have got their Canadian acts mixed up…

Spice girls would’ve made zero sense at the height of their fame, they simply would never have been booked. Spice girls make more sense the more time elapses.

yep, same as duran duran never got booked at the height of their fame.

I might be missing something here but Rod Stewart feels very underwhelming (I couldn’t list 5 tracks off top of my head) - but maybe I’m young and ungrateful

Legend slot is always a bit uncomfortably busy anyway but still feels a massive missed opportunity especially when Elton Johns is there too
