Back in 2017 my wife and I weren’t in the best place. We’d recently had a bereavement in her immediate family and another significant life event in her immediate family which I won’t go into. On top of that I’d been struggling with work and was feeling low - hence changing careers to teaching. We worked hard on the relationship and were in a better place but by no means a good place by the time the festival came around, the first we’d been to. This photo captures a moment I can pinpoint as being the one we knew we’d be ok. The festival was a real unifying experience for us where we “found ourselves” again and seeing Dave and the lads play El Pointo was a key moment. An acoustic version of Everlong was our first dance when we got married in 2015.
We’re on the left of this photo, and I think you can see how happy we are to be properly together again.

Thank you Foos, thanks Taylor.

Honestly finding it so hard to describe how sad I am to hear about the loss of Taylor Hawkins, one of the most incredible drummers in my favourite band. Absolutely broken and shocked. My thoughts go out to his family and band members. We love you Taylor 🖤

Oh man. I've fallen away from the Foos in recent years, but they meant so much in my younger days. From my first non-parental accompanied gig at Brixton in 95 (pre Taylor) to endless festivals, an incredible gig at The Astoria on the Color and the Shape tour all though to headline shows at Hyde Park and Wembley Stadium. What a ride.

Long Road to Ruin started on Spotify and brought me to tears

Here now, don't make a sound

Say, have you heard the news today?

One flag was taken down

To raise another in its place

A heavy cross you bear

A stubborn heart remains unchanged

No harm, no life, no love

No stranger singing in your name

But maybe the season

The colors change in the valley skies

Dear God, I've sealed my fate

Running through hell, heaven can wait

Long road to ruin there in your eyes

Under the cold streetlights

No tomorrow, no dead end in sight

My heartfelt condolences to the band and his family x

Out of upvotes. Great post x

I'm very rarely lost for words but I totally feel that way with this news. Such an icon in the music industry and one of the best drummers of all time without a doubt. I was about 6 when The Pretender was released and I've loved then ever since. Taylor is an irreplaceable loss for the band and my thoughts are with his family, the foos and all their fans today

thats just people with an agenda, the covid vaccine has been proven to be as safe as other vaccines. no reason to think anyone is dying from it.

A. There is no "covid vaccine" there are several, are they all equally safe or could there be some more risky than others?

B. "proven to be safe" by who? well actually it was the companies making the vaccines who did the testing and it turns out they maybe didn't do such a great job, https://www.bmj.com/content/375/bmj.n2635

C. "No reason to think anyone is dying from it", except there are confirmed deaths due to the vaccines,

There is a proven link to heart inflammation after vaccination so it's hardly surprising people may speculate on this possible cause.

It looks to me like the one with an agenda is you, you have shut down twice the covid discussion threads and are now making blanket assertions about the safety of the vaccines when the facts are still being established, the risk/reward balance of vaccines at the moment needs to be considered carefully when the current covid strain is so mild.

Just because you want something to be true doesn't make it so.

(you will notice I have only linked "respectable" sources here, the BMJ and the BBC can hardly be considered anti-vax)

There’s a time and a place for this kind of thing. This is not it. A little more sensitivity would not go amiss.

This is indeed very sad news. As the “second best drummer in Foo Fighters” he was indeed a great musician, but I find it tough to think of a more charismatic performer to sit behind the drums. I was fortunate enough to see him with the band on a few occasions, including twice on the pyramid stage. He always played with such energy, enthusiasm and gratitude. Feeling now like I may have taken them a bit for granted…

What bloody terrible news. 😢 Like lots of you have said, it’s genuinely shocking… 50 is still so young really.

Foo Fighters were literally the soundtrack of my teenage years and uni. I was into them right from the beginning, I had a truly pathetic attempt at a band with some mates and remember thrashing out Big Me, This is a Call and I’ll Stick Around in someone’s uncle’s barn.

Obviously that was before Taylor joined. When he did coincided with my first exposure to music videos and the video for Learn to Fly will always be one of my faves. Of course Dave was the main character but even just from that video it was obvious how much humour and good spirit Taylor brought to the band; alongside rocking out very seriously of course.

I only got to see the Foos once, at Reading in 2012. That remains one of the most memorable years of my life: got married, London Olympics and a lot more - and that show was the absolute perfect highlight to close out the summer. The band were on top form - I think it was just before they went on a short hiatus and they were determined to put it all into their last gig. I still get shivers remembering the opening riff of Everlong from that night…

I’ll always regret I didn’t have tickets for Glastonbury in 2017 - I don’t normally watch live performances from the festival if I’m not there cos it makes me sad, but I couldn’t miss that - what a show.

Others have said much better than I could what a great drummer Taylor was and how much he brought to the band. He’ll be deeply missed not just by Foo Fighters but for rock music in general. 😢

RIP Taylor.
