First to the barrier

Hello everyone, this year is my first time to go to Download, if i would like to be close to the stage, how long you have to wait till they open the gates, and you have to run? or just walk there ? thank you

The first bands will be on at like 11am dude, you're gonna have to leave the front of the stage at some points to eat drink and evacuate. It's not super hard to get to the front at Download, people are friendly.

Even for the headliners you'll probably be able to get to the barrier by heading there for the sub. There's a lot of movement usually and big gaps between bands. Any other band you'll not have too much trouble. Only times I've ever been on barrier is when I've smashed my way through a pit and inadvertently found myself there. Don't like it, way too far from the bar.
