Early Morning Train on Monday - Ticket Inspectors?

Hey,

Our group have got tickets for a train from Castle Cary to Paddington at 8:40 on the Monday morning. We have a few friends who have tickets for a train at 5:00am but they are now up to £70 one way so we're not looking to pay that much. 

Was wondering if anyone has done this route back and noticed ticket checkers at 5am? Less likely for them to check on train packed full of people sitting in the aisles so wondering if we could sneak on to an earlier train.....

If not, a few hours kip at the station will have to be the plan!

Just to check, what type tickets do you have? Advance? I think they are the only ones where the journey time is not transferable.

I think advance, we're technically not trying to play by the rules, just thinking if the 5am train are not only early in the morning + really busy, will it be less likely they'll check our tickets before we get to Paddington.

I get you, I was wondering if you were just worryingly needlessly & your tickets were valid, it's just your seat reservations wouldn't be!

Paddington normally has ticket scans when leaving the platform.  So you're likely to have your ticket checked at that point, if not on the train.

Loads of ticket checkers and police before you even get into the station, not sure what time they start

Only time I went by train inspectors checked our tickets before they let us on the platform.
