Lotus flower burning

Joe Rush is building a 40ft lotus flower made from recycled wood to be burnt on the last night of the festival.  You can write messages on it to symbolise letting go of things as it goes up in flames. 

Its a lovely idea but i can't help thinking that burning things like this isn't good for the environment.  Thoughts?

Where do you draw the line. There's a bonfire on Wed plus fireworks etc. At least the amount of fires has dropped off considerably from the days everyone had one going outside their tent!

I think it’s a beautiful idea. I can’t wait to take part, as the past 3 years have been hugely difficult for me and my family. Totally get the environmental concerns, but in the bigger picture, I think it will be a necessary ritual for us all.
