Think they’ll feel they’ve done The Pixies enough and it’s a tired act these days.

PJ Harvey new announced tour in autumn. No Spain dates.

That's fair. I'm not their biggest act in this current formation. And yeah I just noticed that too, here's the full dates IMG-20230607-WA00061.jpg

Question for you folks on a related topic......

I see some people mentioning bands they went to see who were on quite early in the evening (say 8pm) and im just wondering how you physically do/did it?

I could do it for the first day but then would stay out until at least 5am (drinking continuously).

Then It took ages to get to Passeig De Gracia where my hotel was.

I was getting into bed at 6/7 am.

By day 2 and day 3 I would be in pieces each day and barely able to stomach food until about 4pm.

I don't take any substances but would drink beer all night.

Do you guys just take it easy and focus on the music?, stay close to the venue? or am I just getting old?

That's a very good question. I don't know how old you are, but I'm 46 and every year I wonder how I manage to find the energy to do this.

This year I was a little more reasonable than in 2022 or 2019, when I did 4pm-6am on 3 nights.

But Thursday I saw my 1st concert at 4:30pm and finished at 5:20am, Friday I was on site at 5pm and finished at 4:45am and Saturday arrived at 3:30pm and left at 4:20pm after Charlotte de Witte. So I never went to bed before at least 6am.

For some years now, we've been staying in a hotel within a 20-minute walk of the festival to avoid having to wait for a cab or take a bus. It saves a bit of time.

I like beer but I don't usually drink too much of it when I'm at Primavera and I think that helps a lot. In fact, given my schedule every year and my back-to-back concerts, I don't have much time to eat and drink 😂

I'm normally a late sleeper, but I always manage to get up for lunch before going to the festival.

Apart from having the hotel not too far away and not drinking too much alcohol during the festival, I'm at a loss to say how I'm holding up.

On the other hand, I started working again today and I'm really feeling the tiredness.

38 myself. Shagged since I got back.
But (and I don’t say this with any pride) I must have been having 20 beers a night.
Hotel room littered with cans from the 24 hour shop too .

I’ll have to ease off next year. Too hard to go back to back to back. Need a monastic life now for 4 weeks until madcool. Then another 4 monastic weeks until Cala Mijas.

salads and rosary beads.

Mad respect. I don’t know how you handle that much Estrella.. that stuff in excess makes me sick. The one day I had a bunch of beers I found myself in eiaxmple the next morning for lunch about to dry heave in front of the police. Always found the wine at the fest to be a bargain and the way to go.

Absolutely gutted. Best day of the festival by a mile. How can rain be so bad they have to cancel a day of the festival?

There's all sorts of insurance/health & safety reasons. Likely they got a really bad forecast come in and whoever's in charge of that side of things made the call and just put a stop to the whole thing.

I have plenty of issues with the running of Primavera generally but I'm very glad they called this early and kept people (and staff, and tech crew) safe. Obviously gutting for everyone who was going, and playing.

They’ll try and find venues to put bands in right?! They’re all here.

I don't see how they can sadly? Everyone is here to see Blur. No venue is going to be able to facilitate that

It begs the bigger question...if Arganda del Rey isn't safe with a lot of rain, then why was it chosen to host the festival in the first place?

Estrella Warm up in Murcia had a day cancelled for the same reason. It absolutely pissed it down. Spain has had some sh*t weather in the last 5 weeks or so.

The stadium pet shop boys are playing at? There will be a stage. Also, what happens if the bad weather doesn’t happen tomorrow, would they reverse?

But if you are a massive festival, there should be a contingency plan, right?

Rain alone shouldn't be enough to cancel a festival

How bad exactly is the weather in Madrid?

Some of the states UK festivals get in and they rock on. It would probably take a borderline biblical atrocity by God for Melvyn or the Eavis’ to cancel a festival.

It's been raining on and off today. Not even raining at the moment. The ground is mostly dry

The forecast for tomorrow is wet, but no thunderstorms

Plenty of conspiracy theories floating about to do with poor sales but who knows

Pretty f**king gutting for those of us who have flown over from the UK for the festival. Even if we got a 33% refund (which seems unlikely from the T&Cs), doesn't even begin to account for the time, money or effort invested
