Would like to see 3 or more from NIN, Tame Impala, Arcade Fire, The Cure, RATM and Vampire Weekend as headliners next year.

Looking to be my first Primavera and got a hotel provisionally booked within walking distance!

Won’t be Tame, too soon.

Won’t be Arcade Fire, too sexual assault-y (honestly I’m their biggest fan so I’m more annoyed than anyone. 100% they would have played this year if that story don’t come out, or more importantly if he didn’t do it).

Won’t be RATM, just can’t see them coming good on that European tour. Their cancellation didn’t even hint at “I’ll heal up and be back” it was moreso “cancelled. Never mind ey lads?”

Maybe NIN? Honestly who knows what Trent’s plans are. He could do a few festivals next year, or not perform at all. It’s a bit up in the air.

Maybe Vampire Weekend? I think they’re quite under rated to be honest, and I haven’t followed their activity outside of their albums; are they close to finishing a new album and due a tour cycle?

Good chance of The Cure, been well loved at Primaveras past and are booked for Buenos Aires edition.

I don't really understand what's going on with Madrid.

Surely one of the reasons they chose a venue so far out is because it was set up to hold events and wouldn't turn into a swimming pool at the first sign of rain with good drainage etc.

It feels like they are less worried about storms and more worried about the site being flooded.

If humans are capable of sophisticated artificial intelligence, surely we are also capable of building machines that suck up water from a concrete floor (or better still install proper drainage systems in the first place)?

The Forum doesn’t have this problem and the site doesn't have to be bone dry.

Hasn’t this venue been offered to numerous organizers before who have all turned it down? And primavera essentially is using it for next to nothing?

I’ve been in Madrid for a few days and while it has been raining on and off all day yesterday and continues to rain today, I’d only describe it as heavy for 20-30 mins.

Id be so frustrated if I was planning on going. The venue looks unusable from those pics and the rain seems to continue at the same level, so I don’t see much changing

Glastonbury has carried on with far, far worse. It’s also a big space and clear that not many people will be attending, which I guess makes it less potentially dangerous.

Ultimately I guess cancellation might depend mostly on whether it is a more financially attractive option for them.

I’m not in the organisation team of Primavera so there’s many things that I can’t know, but isn’t it better just to cancel all the festival since the beggining instead of making people wait? From the pictures and videos the venue seems completely unusable and it’s going to rain even more tonight, maybe for Saturday there could be a chance of having it ready but I don’t see it for tomorrow, at least if they cancel it or cancel 50% of it, us who have the full festival ticket can get a refund.

The lack of communication is very stressful, last communication was 14 hours ago, no news in regards to the full festival ticket holders, nothing on the update of the status of festival, just silence (this is a team that organizes Primavera Barcelona for the last 20 years, should have more experience in this).
I am in Madrid right now, and it’s true that this rain doesn’t seem to be that bad. I go to Roskilde festival every year and there’s no concrete there either for the most parts and it rains a lot and still it goes on. I think that the problem is Arganda itself and poor planning from Primavera team. I saw that it would rain this weekend already 2 weeks ago, I know the meteorology changes, but they have weeks to be prepared to change the location or get a drainage system. And they did nothing. Worse than that, they only canceled it less than 24 hours before.

If they’ve struggled to persuade international people to come to Madrid this year, next year will be even worse for international sales, which in turn must threaten its continuation.

Thumping win for Barcelona in el clásico.

There’s also Primavera Porto this weekend that is much cheaper and still you can see a decent amount of artists, so that also steals a lot from them. Strategically, I don’t see any point of having a Primavera in Madrid, specially outside the city. I feel like it won’t happen again next year, regardless of the weather this year. It’s just seems not feasible, the sales are too bad, imagine now after this fiasco.

I'm an international person, and have definitely been put off the idea of returning to Madrid next year. I really like the city but the organisation of this festival has been horrible

Unless there's a change of location and/or a lineup that suits me way better, it will be Barcelona only. Or an entirely different festival

I loved Primavera last year so the way all this has been handled is massively disappointing

38 myself. Shagged since I got back.
But (and I don’t say this with any pride) I must have been having 20 beers a night.
Hotel room littered with cans from the 24 hour shop too .

I’ll have to ease off next year. Too hard to go back to back to back. Need a monastic life now for 4 weeks until madcool. Then another 4 monastic weeks until Cala Mijas.

salads and rosary beads.

I'm 39 and last year I was moaning I hadn't made it to the late slots at Porto once, my friend said "have you tried not drinking lager all day?" And it worked. Rum and coke in particular is a nice little pick me up and the caiprinhina stand at Porto got me through to 6am

I was told that the Madrid one was basically because the festival organisers have been beefing with Barca City Council and the Madrid event was a "we'll take the ball home" warning shot. Looks like that's backfired.

On the one hand it looks like the rain prior has screwed them over. On the other "you can come the other 2 days" is fairly telling

Lager has quite a sleepy effect on me too. It's my go to if I'm at the pub, but if I'm at a festival, it's rum, wine or gin to keep me bopping away.

Also, and this is very boring, but moderation (and coffee). My body can't switch from a regular 9-5 and normal sleeping pattern to my PS pattern without some work, so gotta cut some corners.

Other, eh, substances are available but have never been my bag so identifying the late night coffee spots is usually a priority for me when the map comes out.

Kevin Parker is currently finishing the tour on crutches. Hip surgery. Probably a nice long lay off afterwards.

Arganda de Rey seems a bit far from the city too no?

The great thing about Barcelona is it's a weekend break and a festival. I eat really well in the day at lovely restaurants and potter around.

That Madrid mud fest is exactly the opposite of what id be looking for.

Its a reasonable train journey from Madrid to Barcelona and there are low cost providers doing the route too.

Why did they think this was a good idea?

Is it the old Rock in Rio venue?

Late night coffee spots? You mean there's a place where you can buy coffee after midnight?
