Not if they get announced after the shows are (near) sold out, which happens a lot here (in Belgium).

It doesn't happen with Primavera, only with rare exceptions. Big Thief also played this year's festival and I couldn't see them being booked two years in a row, on top of having their own Barcelona show.

Guess that comes with programming two weekends chalk full of music this year. I don't even know how many artists that were on the complete line-up, with Ciutat etc. included. I feel like Big Thief is a band that always seems to tour, so whil I understand they'd be a repeat band, I also feel like they kind of make sense to get them back? Besides, they deserved a better spot than at the Pitchfork-stage (clashing both Slowdive and Gorillaz) imo.

Maybe, but Primavera does need some fresh names next year to get people to buy tickets. Having a band that are constantly on tour and played last year doesn't offer much value to people who want to pull the trigger on 325 Euros, really. I'd love to see them every year though!

I do hope Weyes Blood and King Gizz return next year - could they, since they'll have new albums out?

As above, it's rare mid-level acts are booked two years in a row unless they're long term friends of the festival like Shellac/Deerhunter/DJ Coco. King Gizzard might be an exception given they sell lots of tickets nowadays and went down very well this year, but I'd be surprised if they doubled up like this given so many other festivals would want them.

So I've noticed the speculation has gone a bit cold in this thread. So I came up with some educated guesses for next year loosely based on this year's line up:

The leftfield legends: Massive Attack // Massive Attack
The popular rock band: Tame Impala // Arctic Monkeys
The reunion slot: Pavement // Pulp
The American indie/rock legends: The Strokes // Nine Inch Nails
The legends: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds // The Cure
The critical darling indie band: The National // Bon Iver
The solo legend: Beck // Bjork
The alternative pop star: Jorja Smith // FKA Twigs
The marquee hip hop act: Tyler The Creator // Kendrick Lamar
The mainstream pop star: Dua Lipa // Rosalia
The unconventional pop star: Lorde // Mitski
The alternative R&B/Hip-hop act: Megan Thee Stallion // SZA
The comeback kids: Yeah Yeah Yeahs // LCD Soundsystem

Good set of guesses.

If the F1 calendar stays the same,  F1 will be the same weekend at Barcelona circuit. As primavera. Hotel prices will go through the roof .

GP is usually in May,festival in June

Edit: Sorry,I saw the new calendar, let's hope they change the date

I know it says mainstream pop act, but I'm missing the Spanish headlining (pop / rap) act on top. I'd very much like Bad Bunny (and/or Rosalia) please.
