Think the only way is up for them, which given they're already nudging £350/£400 even from regional airports is insane. Most casual festivalgers are going to take one look at that and think "nah", and for a lot of people the idea of going through Madrid/Zaragoza/Reus or elsewhere is a bit of a pain in the arse, particularly if you've not got much flexibility with work or timings. I think it'll really shave off a lot of casual festivalgoers from the UK who might've gone normally (which the locals are probably happy about!) I haven't totally ruled it out personally but I'm aware the £1k+ I'm potentially spending on Primavera could be split between a couple of smaller/less corporate city festivals elsewhere, particularly as all the lineup will be inevitably be touring around over the summer. We'll see. I just think a lot of people pricing things up when the lineup finally drops are going to be really shocked. I don't think flights will go materially up from £400 personally. People want to travel to Barcelona but not that desperately and the price needs to reflect demand. The best trick is to book the flights with Avios if you can. BA_Barrabus
I'm flying from Belfast to Reus on the Thursday morning and Barcelona to Dublin on the Monday aftrernoon and it's cost me approx £300. Not amazing, but could have been worse. Out of interest, what is the craic with the bus from Reus to Barcelona? I read that there isnt a fixed schedule per se, but it is based on flight arrival times into the airport. Would there be lots of flights into Reus where bus capacity would be an issue? Also totally down for Chemical Brothers & Pulp 🤞

Very easy and pay at the station https://rodalies.gencat.cat/en/horaris/ Will give you some idea of the times. Worth checking on TripAdvisor forums for more info Chems are definitely due and welcome at PS. It was announced a few months ago but the Chats have got a PS sized hole in their EU/UK tour.

xxialac
I've seen another rumour for Peter Gabriel, which seems plausible. More generaly also can see them bringing Weekender acts that didn't play this year e.g. Charlotte Adigéry and Bolis Pupul, Crack Cloud. Finally Gilla Band, Ty Segall and Osees are playing Wide Awake in London end of May. 1

Very likely on the poster imho. King Gizz, Black Lips, Dinosaur Jr., Parquet Courts, IDLES, King Krule, Viagra Boys all played this year. No other alternatives left 😆 Edited November 1, 2022 by Createur

xxialac
Deerhunter also on that poster please. Their last album was all the way back in January 2019 and they've completely gone to ground since the pandemic.

Nesser
The more I think of Pulp the clearer it seems to me they're playing just Barcelona. And that's being optimistic cause I can totally see them not playing at all given those tour dates.

If they could get someone like Rosalia as an exclusive for Madrid (perhaps someone high profile who can't play Barcelona for whatever reason) then there would be few complaints about lack of Pulp. Totally agree, chances of them playing Madrid seem slim to none.

Tangana >>> Madrid Pulp >>> Barcelona I just want nice electronic music names, like Odesza, Rufus du Sol, The Blaze, Moderat, Jon Hopkins, Mathame, Bob Moses, Tourist... hope the pick at least a few from there

Though the programming really needs a rethink as some of the good electronic this year got wasted in front of small crowds up at Bits.

And yes I agree about electronic stuff being put on later or at better stages. Autechre for instance were on ridiculously early, did anyone from here see them? I did, it was decent though given the increased capacity of the festival even Auditori felt too small for the amount of people that wanted to watch, I had lots of friends who didn't get in. Autechre have been doing "sensibly" timed indoor shows (ie not super late club times) right throughout this year so maybe it's something they've started requesting. It would've been amazing on Ray Ban at 2am with no lighting.

There would be a lot of complaints from people in Barcelona that they were getting a 90's semi-retired Britpop band instead of globally recognised homegrown megastars like Rosalia or C Tangana!!! Both acts are absolutely huge in Spain and have toured with very high production tours this year. If either are at Primavera next year (unlikely but I would love to see both again), they will be as major headliners and presumably would have to be at both events more than Pulp need to be.
