I expected more from Denmark tbf. They were brilliant at the Euros last year, they beat France home and away in the Nations League, and yet in this thing, out with no wins. I know football can be fickle like that, but still, feels like they could've offered more.

Kudos to the Australians tbf. I'd heard all these horror stories about them being lucky to be there and just to make up the numbers, so to get to the knockout round is a great achievement.

I really disagree with these incidents showing them in slow motion, I think it gives a completely false perspective.

well, we live in a world of analysis and VAR, so you'd better get used to it...plus...it kind of gives you the truth behind dubious decisions...like that England goal in 66 or the Maradona hand ball etc etc

We can use the technology how we chose. To slow down some tackles makes them look worse than they are. The game is played at normal speed and that's how a tackle should be judged.

ok, or it makes them not actually as bad as they initially looked. VAR doesn't work always, slows games down, and that should never have been a penalty,

But...that save.

Well so much for that and other obscure ways to split Mexico and Poland, given that a late Saudi goal is enough to decide it.

Though Poland are gonna have to be substantially better to beat the French, especially given I presume the French might be more bothered than they were for their dead rubber with Tunisia earlier.

I was hoping for poland to get within 1 yellow card of Mexico. Score with the last attack, player takes his shirt off for yellow and then the goal disallowed by VAR forcing lots. Now that would have been entertainment!

I mean tbf we weren't far off that being the requirement. Even if Poland's attacking drive basically meant Emi Martinez could've taken the night off and meant any need for the Poles to actually score was rendered moot.

nothing to do with sexism you plank - given some of the decisions lately I haven't a clue...

Of course it's sexism. You're mentioning it directly in response to female referees, when "women don't know the offside rule" is a piece of sexist bullshit you're very aware of.

If you want to comment on the standard of officiating, say that, not the fucking sexist trope from last century.

he'll keep arguing about it I'm sure...almost as if he wants a reaction...almost as if he's a troll...
