Ell99
Hi All! Help would be greatly appreciated, I am driving down from North London on Wednesday morning and want to park on the West side for access to preferably gate D to camp in Paines. What is the best route to get there? In 2019 I attempted this and got diverted by a steward and had to walk across the whole site to get to our camp which was very long! On the plus side we did make an easy exit. Thanks so much for any responses.
al_coholic
M4 > J18, then A46 > Bath, then A36 through Bath, then A39 > Wells > Glastonbury, then A361 > West Car Parks. That's probably the easiest route, slightly longer than others, and may be a bit slow through Bath.

Yup this will work for you.....just be careful of teh Bath Clean Air Zone and any charges applicable. If you are in a car then you should be good but anything else you need to check here..... https://beta.bathnes.gov.uk/bath-clean-air-zone

Rather than turning south for Shepton Mallet, carry straight on to Wells. A reasonably close post code is BA6 8NB

I feel these days that I just do whatever google tells me and havent had to actually plan a route for years! is there any chance that we'd get diverted by a steward whilst driving through Shepton Mallet? Ah yes....ok I'll be honest here....the jury is out on whether that last bit of your route where you come down the B3136 to join the A361 East of Pilton, with intention of then turning right and heading through the village to West carparks, is actually possible. It's not clear from the Traffic Management Plan whether that junction is restricted or not, so to avoid any difficulty when you get there and being turned around by marshalls I would advise against using it - and to save traffic issues for local people also. Given this @al_coholic's advice is probably best, to cross the A37 just after Beacon Hill Woods and head down into Wells (the view from the top near the golf course to your left across to Glastonbury Tor is wonderful). From Wells pick up the A39 south to Glastonbury and then approach Pilton on A361 from there with all the other happy campers. This route avoids Shepton altogether. Have a safe trip 😀

russell94
I would go A303 all the way to the A37 roundabout, then instead of Going up the A37, go down the A372 then the B3151 to street. We done this in 2013 and worked a treat. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/51.5660332,-0.1023289/Pilton,+Shepton+Mallet/@51.1572814,-2.6326289,10.54z/data=!4m18!4m17!1m5!3m4!1m2!1d-2.7318067!2d51.1259624!3s0x48721714bf35826f:0xf0479fe52cd7eb97!1m5!1m1!1s0x4872234879b7a5db:0xd05fc2ae5151fc35!2m2!1d-2.589688!2d51.1657253!2m3!6e0!7e2!8j1655873700!3e0 Edited June 21, 2022 by russell94
Trunks1993
same question. I was told ‘London - Frome - Wells (via old wells road and old Frome road) - Glastonbury - Glastonbury west car parks. If this isn’t possible please let me know and save me the stress!

That will work....you may find that you are given the option of turning left off the road between Wells and Glastonbury at some point. This will take you into Pink parking on West side. If you don't get this option or chose to stay on the Wells-Glastonbury road all the way to Glastonbury then approaching the site on A361 from Glastonbury as it sounds like you have done previously will see you directed into either Pink or Orange - but again both on West side.
