Staying in Salisbury

Hello,

It look like we're staying in Salisbury this year (I hear it has a nice cathedral from Russian friends).

Any tips from anyone who has stayed and done the daily back and forth before?

There will be cars but I wondered how reliable/good/expensive the taxis were.

And whether you have to pre-book for the shuttle bus or can just get on if not full.

Haven't gotten it in a couple of years but when I got a cab from Salisbury station it was £50

And looking at the National Express website, it looks like the shuttle buses are more set up to get people to the site, rather than back and forth. I of course could be hilariously wrong, but might be worth checking it out

Thanks Robith. Yeah, it would have been bus in, taxi back, but there are enough of us to make the taxi both ways option cheaper if no one wants to drive.

Anyone know the biggest Sainsburys/Tesco between Bristol and EOTR?

After a load of Moth cocktails. And a sleeping bag.

We always use the Tesco at Shaftesbury, stock up then a quick pint at the half moon

Campsite's open earlier this year isnt it actually so will have to forgo the pint

Might struggle for a sleeping bag at the Shaftesbury Tesco, it's not an Extra.  But there is Asda and Aldi in Gillingham (also Factory Shop which is likely to have a sleeping bag).  There's also Lidl next door to Tesco in Shaftesbury.

I'd be tempted to take a minor detour to the Tesco in Shepton Mallet.

Cheers, yeah thats a big one isnt it? Have a done few pre Glasto stops there before.

It is a trek - about 30 - 40 mins. 

Be about £100 in a taxi there and back.
