First poster: 14th March 2024

Refund deadline:  3rd May 2024

Seems fair enough to me.

Anyone that's not happy with it could have cancelled and gone somewhere else.

Personally, I think it's a lovely line up apart from the Pyramid but I can cope without going there for one festival.

Yes, the festival to me  has always been a lot more than just a succession of gigs, seeing bands I’ve seen before. Just wandering about, dipping in and out venues, especially at night is all part of it. There’s so much to see and at first glance there’s already clashes. If the sun shines and the ground stays decent it also makes all the difference.

I just don’t see how any of this disentitles one from having anything other than a glowing, utopian opinion of the lineup?

It’s a festival, not a cult.

Not done a deep dive into the smaller stages or late night stuff yet, but so far I seem to have:

FRI: Squeeze > Olivia Dean > Sugababes > Heilung > FBS > Mad Dog McRae

SAT: Cyndi Lauper > Keane > Kiwanuka > Black Pumas > Coldplay (maybe)

SUN: Zutons > Psychadelic Porn Crumpets > Go! Team > Baby Queen >Bob Vylan.

I'll take that.

yes, I feel the same way. I also think they could have swapped out naff radio-playlist filler like Paloma Faith or The Zutons out for something a bit more mind blowing. As is my right as a human being living in the free world.

I’ll stop whinging now and get back to being excited for a fun week off my face in a field.

But bloody hell, it’s Pilton not Pyongyang.

Exactly - so if you don't like the line up you are free to go elsewhere.

I’m also free to voice my opinion!

Absolutely - of course you are.  I was responding to your claim that you had lost the money before you got the lineup, which isn't true.

OK, so I've spent some time poking about on clashfinder and I am feeling more satisfied and likely to have to split off from my husband a few times, lol. There's actually more "after hours" stuff than I would usually opt for, and as someone who doesn't drink or partake in recreationals I'm going to have to find some way of hammering espressos to keep me going haha.

I'm not blown away by many, there are some bucket list acts but only a couple, but I'm going to watch a lot of bands I wanted to see at another festival to "free up" time at that festival I think.

I didn’t say I’d lost it though…just that I’m entitled to whinge about something I’ve paid for.

Exactly - people still blindly coming to the festival year-on-year even when they don't like the lineup is cult-like behaviour. They should just try doing something else with their summer

Thankfully the clashes have mostly worked out well for me and have already ended up with busy days throughout - and still need to do research on the smaller stages.  I noticed Pumarosa are playing the Wishing Well on Friday night, so interested to see what that venue is like.  Not sure I'll be able to squeeze them in with Faithless and Fontaines around that time.

Alvvays - Avril is annoying, and while I have tickets to see Alvvays just before the festival, I cant see myself not watching them at Glasto.  I think a dash down the hill to watch 2/3rds of Avril from the back is the likely outcome.

Fair enough tbf, you're perfectly alright to have a moan, its a forum! I volunteer, so im lucky enough not to have to try and justify dropping £360 on it. I'd struggle if i did. I was moaning about the Download lineup the other day, swerving that because of the lineup, but there's a lot more there than there is here to be honest. But there's enough for me to be happy enough in donating my time at Glastonbury  etc 👍

This thread:-

"I can't wait for the full lineup. Where is the lineup? Come on, I need to see the lineup! Where is the f**king lineup?"

(Lineup drops)......."What a sh*t lineup!" 🤣

Hahaha, sorry! 🙈

Yeah I feel like dance music fans are spoiled for choice in terms of current-ness, emerging DJs and old favourites.

In terms of bands, we’re not so lucky. Unless you’re genuinely excited about seeing Frank Turner for the 150th time or stopped listening to music sometime around the 2010s.

You have those three elements for bands too, at a quick glance:

Current-ness = Nothing But Thieves, Seventeen, Jungle, Black Pumas, Heilung, Yard Act, IDLES, Fontaines, Alvvays, Lottery Winners

Emerging = New Dad, English Teacher, SPRINTS, Hi Vis, Bob Vylan, Blondeshell, Mannequin Pussy

Old favourites = Keane, James, Zutons, Bloc Party, Bombay Bicycle Club, Dexys, The Breeders, Ocean Colour Scene, The Farm

I haven't included any solo acts in that either, of which there are loads.

I am very much looking forward to seeing Hi Vis to be fair.

Definitely some weaker areas compared to other years for me but actually looking forward to having more freedom to catch some of the daft and silly non-music stuff which people in here are always recommending.

Very few must-see bands on the main five stages though, and every headliner pick is a toss-up between a few 7/10s than a clear 9 or 10/10 favourite.

Totally agree. People are so quick to jump to "if you don't like it, don't go" like it's a catchphrase and they do it to any sort of critique. It's so boring, and annoying. It's designed to put people down without engaging in any sort of conversation.
