As first poster drops go, there’s loads I’m looking forward to! The Park in particular has knocked it out of the…er, Park!

Don’t miss Aurora on the park. She’s been tremendous in the Woodsies/JP the last two times she’s played.

I think my issue with the line up is it just feels dull, beige, insipid. There's no edge to it or much that's very leftfield.

For want of a better term it's just one of the least 'cool' line ups this summer across Europe a combination of radio 2 bored housewife fare from 15 years ago and some novelty kitsch nonsense.

You've got prodigy, massive attack, air, grace Jones, echo and the bunnymen all playing round this time... mad to not have any of them on board. Maybe too 'dangerous' for a line up that seems to be aimed at 12 year olds and whimsical picnic blanket crowd

Hopefully the glade and silver hayes can save the day and bring some kind of respectability back to something which looks like a capital fm party in the park line up

Will do, thanks! Looks like I’ll be spending a lot of time at the park this year!

I too am fuming about the lack of edgy bands Air and Echo and the Bunnymen.

You know what I mean, anything with any substance to it.

Genuinely embarrassed to attend the festival based on that line up. Hopefully fat white family do something to disgrace themselves, upset people and balance out the rest of the vanilla nonsense

Fat White Family genuinely are wrong 'uns though, right?

Misunderstood, I think.

I think this is a genuinely great piece of writing. Saw him give a spoken word performance and it was superb. Musically, in the main, i can take them or leave them, and his memoir is grim as all giddy up. But there's something about them that makes me glad they exist. I do fear he's all gone a bit 'you can't say anything these days' though. But man, this article. I'll forgive a lot for this.

Keep looking at the poster having forgotten that Two Door Cinema Club have prominent billing and it hits me anew.

Their longevity is truly baffling

Edgy might not have been the best adjective, but Air would have been a really interesting booking, and the Bunnymen, for me, still retain 'proper band with something to say' status, despite their vintage. I'd have loved to have seen them.

Keane on the Pyramid playing stuff off their ‘big’ album seems fine in a year where they have one of the 100 most streamed songs in the world off that album

Absolutely. Derided by many in a 'Coldplay way' more for what they seemed to become. I saw them at a festival in between albums 1 and 2 and they were pretty great. Tom Chaplin is a properly good singer and the first record is packed full of songs perfect for a euphoric hour in the afternoon sun on El Pointo.
