mostly avoided clashes other than Alvvays - Avril which is such a pain. ill probably go for the big sing along with friends at avril, sucks though.

I'm really happy to see the Gateway stage return. That was great fun last year.

 

Given the late 2000s/early 2010s vibe to the lineup I have to say I'm disappointed that the Klaxons and late of the pier aren't playing. 

 

I'll be there for the zutons though! (Maybe)

 

And delighted to see Annie Mac at a very child friendly time on the Friday.

 

Silver hayes also looks good. The shogun 20 years set would be fun before I'm dragged against my will to watch Coldplay.

 

Will probably spend a lot of time at west Holts generally.

 

LCD Soundsystem are on my bucket list too so they'll will hopefully be good on the pyramid for a sunset set.

 

And I reckon Nia archives -> justice will be an amazing end to the weekend.

 

Overall it's Glastonbury so mustn't grumble.

We're gutted about that one too. I reckon half an hour of Alvvays then over to the Other can be done as long as you're not after a really good spot.

As always, that's a matter of opinion and taste. There's at LEAST one must-see act on that stage every day for me, and last year's late additions you mentioned failed to generate my interest last year. The place will be packed and the crowd will love it. I'm sure you'll find something else to enjoy.

thats the problem with me, id rather have a good spot at one gig than see 2 from a bad spot. cant stand people who talk through a set and theres alot more of them at the back.

Upon reflection, regardless of how anyone wants to spin it, overall, it's a weaker lineup than any of recent memory, particularly on the Pyramid, with some quite baffling placements and obvious over-promotions all across the weekend. As always, it's bolstered by a relatively strong after-hours programme, the excitement of a new Arcadia creation, the return of Genosys and even further expansion of Silver Hayes. The lack of a stellar headliner is a problem for some, but opportunities to secure a major heritage act are reducing, for a few reasons. 

 

If the good weather from recent years continues, any concerns over the lineup will be long forgotten by most, but I do fear that a rainy/muddy one this year could compound the lineup complaints. 

 

Obviously there's still an abundance of amazing acts to see and areas to explore, but if we're making comparisons between years, which we naturally do as vets or newbs, it's quite clearly not as strong, in my opinion. One shared by the vast majority of regulars that I've spoken with. 

 

Still the best weekend of the year, still one of the most amazing festival experiences on the planet, regardless. But...for the first time for as far back as I can remember, there's widespread dissatisfaction regarding the lineup.

naaaah... that's the wrong way to think about it - i'm always happy when there is nobody i REALLY want to see... it means you don't have to be any special place at any special time... total freedom... if there is nobody you really want to see, then there is nobody you will give a sh*t about not seeing!

The big stages are undoubtedly weak. I think the thing for me is there are lots of acts occupying big spots, which would have been justifiable at higher moments in their careers, but not now.... Keane/ Paloma Faith/ Seasick steve/ Bombay bycle club/ Two door cinema club, London Grammar pop out straight away. 

 

Still lots of depth across the weekend...

Was hoping for a last minute Chappell Roan addition. Videos coming out of recent American festivals look a lot of fun. Apart from that I’m really happy generally. Stoked about some good disco alternatives to the normal late night stuff.

If dance music/dj culture is your thing its fairly unbeatable, but for the rest of us its relatively weaker than usual. Some horrendous indie and repeat performers sprinkled in there. Like, trolling us with it.

 

Amazed that I can't find one single thing to properly cling onto.

Yep - agree there is far less pressure when there are no "must sees".  I still get nervous when I think about what time/where to get to the Pyramid for Macca!  I can do without that stress every year!
