Just thinking, the fact that this was announced in the guardian also indicates that they definitely have a decent pr operation in place.

they have a new-ish head of press, i've still never seen a glastonbury press release, but have for every other festival.

Earlier than expected! I wonder if this is a one-off, or whether we'll get more over the next few weeks?

14.1

Not that many!

There are probably 14 specific announcements that they could do if they wanted though.  Last year - Silver Hayes, Avalon, Arcadia, Theatre & Circus, The Park, West Holts, Leftfield, Shangri-La, The Glade, Acoustic, Kidz Field, John Peel - all announced before the full lineup and timings (which is likely only 10 weeks away).  So they could easily squeeze in one a week between now and the end of May.

Add to that the common, block 9, Pilton Palais/Cinerarmageddon and the map.

As well as balance payment and resale.

Since they went onto the posters, this is the earliest by 4 weeks (Kidzfield 12/04/11).

There was a Silver Hayes announcement in Feb 13 when they re-branded the Dance Village but that was just 9 names and no poster. There's been a few announcements on 7th April - Avalon & Jazzworld in 2000 (limited number of acts) and West Holts in 2010 (all acts but no poster).

Really hoping those 3 headliners are just listed alphabetically and not by day. Would be a shame to miss Rudimental if they clash with Elton.

Rudimental has a very “nobody wants to go up against elton” vibe to it which, to be fair, is accurate.

if you saw the size of the crowd for roisin last year up against macca….

Sunday headliner on any stage will be the slot nobody wants

Yeah exactly how I see it. You can headline this stage, but with the caveat that your crowd is probably gonna be minuscule.

Now we're up and running with the individual area announcements, what can we expect?

In 2022, between the 1st poster on 4th March and the full line-up released on 30th May, 17 areas got an announcement from the official Glastonbury accounts/website.

They started on 12th April with Avalon, there was then nothing further until 22nd April, then it got busy...

A new area announcement appeared on average every 2.33 days. Friday was the most common day with 5 areas published, none came out at weekends.

Mon: 2

Tue: 4

Wed: 4

Thu: 2

Fri: 5

In addition to the 17 areas confirmed by the festival, a further 8 smaller areas made their own announcements. After the full line-up was revealed, 9 stages that were included in it were given their own poster.
