NorthernSoul52
If there's no new record, then it'll be pretty much a straight bat, something like: 1 The City 2 Love Me 3 Oh Caroline 4 Me & You Together Song 5 Chocolate 6 TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME 7 A Change of Heart 8 Happiness 9 If You're Too Shy (Let Me Know) 10 It's Not Living (If It's Not With You) 11 Robbers 12 I'm In Love With You 13 Somebody Else 14 Love It If We Made It 15 About You 16 Give Yourself a Try 17 Sex 18 The Sound A dozen-and-a-half singles, all of which are BPI certified hits. A positive cavalcade of bangers. Given the magnitude of the occasion though, would potentially expect a curveballs and the presence of People and I Always Wanna Die Sometimes, which can frankly be retired to the dustbin for me. (And I say that as a fan.)
Oll678
Seen them multiple times both at their own shows and festivals. Think they’re a great band, however can’t help but feel like the booking feels a bit backwards compared to glasto’s standards, specifically the timing. I’d get it if they were coming off a new album but whilst they’re on a break with currently no new music planned it feels a little off to me, would make sense if they were Fred’s replacement though I guess. NorthernSoul52
If they do indeed have new music in the tank, then you're at an Arctic Monkeys 2013 situation. Soft-launch with a big televised show, help build the hype, mostly play the hits. Win-win.
DareToDibble
Never managed to get tickets so haven't been on the forum much bit are they looking like a done deal? If so I am gonna have to make sure I'm there one way or another! Edited November 21, 2024 by DareToDibble
Baggieboy
History will be made if The 1975 are confirmed they are without doubt the best live band on this planet right now and will blow the Pyramid stage away. Healy is a true rock star. After letting the Artic Monkeys ruin Glastonbury with their god dam awful performance Glastonbury needs The 1975. Anybody in any doubt how good they needs to watch the attached breakdown from an expert of their gig at MSG. Healy is the best frontman since Freddie Mercury. From a 50 year old. SirPsychoSexy
As long as the set is still intact they should just do their “At their very best” show.
Andre91
One of my very favourite bands and the band who put on my second favourite live set ever at Leeds 2019. They more than deserve a headline slot having headlined every other festival and selling out every arena in the country several times over. They’ve got an insane collection of bangers and I will have the loveliest time watching them from my living room. NorthernSoul52
At the end of the day, if you want a great live band with a dozen songs that play well to a packed field of neutrals and the viewing public at home, they'll do grand. thatTFBguy
So split on whether I want them to be headlining. Would be pleased for them as a huge fan (and they 100% deserve it), but having failed to get tickets not being there to see it myself would be brutal. NorthernSoul52
Having also not got tickets, will admit I'd like to see them top. Am a fan, and would be chuffed for them - reckon they'll do a fine job.
Justcalledtosay
Not necessarily an indicator of whether they should or shouldn't headline but is there anyone over 35 that has any interest in them?
NorthernSoul52
A very just point, but the last time I went to see them, there was a surprising number of middle-aged folks - sans obvious teenage kids they were keeping an eye on - in the seats. Would suggest they have a little more appeal beyond the expected demographic than we think.

I'm 41 and have honestly never heard them mentioned by anyone i know, and I'm based just down the road from where they are from in South Manchester. Blossoms are similar in that regard, indie pop that it seems older generation just don't bother with. We like the young bands to have some spunk - all my pals love Amyl and the Sniffers. I'm waaay past 35 and bloody love them! Have seen them live 6 times since 2019 and they were brilliant every single time. I was in the pit at Reading 2019 and that remains one of my favourite gigs ever. I also flew to Amsterdam in March this year to see the very last show of their tour - it would be amazing if their very next show was headlining Glasto 2025 - I would be in the pit for sure. fullfathom5
Fine by me, I don’t want to be at The Pyramid for every headliner anyway… I’ll be elsewhere when they play.
NorthernSoul52
I do love how artist-specific threads do get populated by people saying "not for me, Clive" with a degree of frequency. This isn't a complaint, I stress - good to have the differences of opinion! I certainly am guilty of it myself with some others.

There’s a much wider age spread at shows (especially these days/on the last 2 tours) than you’d expect.
NorthernSoul52
On another note, don't think we'll be expecting any cameos for this one. The obvious shout is either Carly Holt to do the extras on About You or if they choose to have All I Need to Hear and wheel out Tim Healy. Save those mid-set cameos that came around during the early stages of At Their Very Best - most notably Taylor Swift - there's been little in the way of live collaboration over the years with the kind of artist you'd have for a "Glastonbury moment". Went to see them last winter and loved it. They were great and would be fantastic on the Pyramid. That said as I did see them recently I would treat them as optional, there is bound to be someone clashing who I've not seen and would like to. Im the opposite, I think a band with so many hits playing not on an album tour is better, it'll be wall to wall songs people know instead of loads of new stuff. Sam Fender might be current but I doubt the album tracks from the new album, however good they are, go down too well 5 months after it's release

As long as they don’t have her clashing on the Other Stage, they could get Charli (and No Rome) out for a live debut of Spinning. Would be fun and it was a shame with it being an out-of-cycle 2021 release, it never made it onto a setlist (despite a Charli cameo in Manchester for ATVB). NorthernSoul52
Indeed, if there is no new record for them to tout, this could be wall-to-wall bangers. Sign me up to watch on the box.
