Arctic Monkeys / Kings Of leon / Tame Impala as headliners last year, plus Clutch, Inhaler, Fontaines DC, Palaye Royale, cleopatrick , Kensington, Nova Twins... hum hum , it seems to me there was a decent number of rock acts 😉

And when you say "these bands are not touring in August" : Placebo are, The Strokes are, The Killers are ,...

And finally, I strongly disagree : Sziget isn't "just another festival", you should know if you've tried other fests' 😉

so you have yungblud, foals, nbt, amyl, viagra boys, frank carter or los bitchos so far. m&s and imagine dragons are probably not less heavy than tame impala or kol and am aren't what they used to be either.

but m&s are huge. the forum wanted huge, not placebo, as far as i remember from some pages ago.

the first 6 names I agree 😉 (about arctic monkeys , dude....they're headlining Glastonbury this year, don't say they are over lool)

And Mumford being "huge" ..... no. Foo Fighters yes. Billie Eilish yes. not mumford.

Tame Impala are as much a rock act as Mumford&Sons are. And you already have Foals, Sam Fender, Viagra Boys, Nothing But Thieves, Frank Carter, Amyl And The Sniffers and some other rock acts on the lineup. It just seems you don't like them thus I don't know why you ask for more cos you won't get much more.

I said "early August" 😉 Only Placebo have shows planned during Sziget but as I said... I think they're not interesting enough for Sziget and their audience. The Killers start their tour a few days after Sziget, The Strokes almost two weeks later (+ there could be other reasons mentioned earlier). Most of the bands just don't want to sit at the hotel for a week and lose money (with the annoying exception of Mumford & Sons who don't seem to have a problem with one-offs).

In terms of the music lineup it is. And honestly, just because there are some activities, Before I Die sign and fancy decorations covered in dust, that doesn't make music festival special. I'm sorry but I'm not paying €350 for that.

I was there in 2014 and the crowd was huge. it's not a question of "interesting enough for sziget audience" lol, if you've been to this fest', you would know that the people who come like a lot of genres. For example, I might be a metal-rock fan, I also  love pop, rap and EDM, which is why Im coming almost every year ^^ and every year hoping for Marina to come back.... 🥰

And finally... Dropkick Murphys will save the day ! 😄

In what year? 2014? Cause its 2023 😉

Look, I don’t want to argue with you forever. You clearly love the festival but I feel like you’ve been complaining about the lineups for a while now. You’ll be disappointed in a few hours, you’ll be disappointed next year as well. They won’t start miraculously booking Placebo or more rock in general, that’s for sure. So if it’s really only about the vibe then you shouldn’t be upset about the lineup, right?

So, are we thinking that Girl In Red will sub Billie and Mackelmore will sub Lorde? Still looking for Mumford's sub then?

If you look at what we (well, you guys) got out of Leaks last night, there's still around 30 acts we don't know who are being announced today.

We know a lot of acts who WON'T be announced today after last night's Q&A session, but hopefully there's plenty more good stuff to come in two hours' time.

Fingers crossed. See you all on the other side!

Out of those 40 acts I expect at least 20 to be electronic acts

I read recently - probably on here - that festival planners often start with a Plan A, and when that doesn't work out they move to Plan B and then Plan C and so on until they tend to finish with Plan F.

There is no way organisers of Sziget started out with blank sheet of paper with Mumford and Sons at the top as main choice. They were huge ten years ago after their first two albums but their two most recent efforts have flopped - along with the lead singer's solo effort. They are literally yesterday's news.

But, if they have an ounce of self-awareness then they'll play the hits and probably put on a good show. However, I suspect the turnout won't be great.

I have to say, M&S at sziget 2018 was pretty good imo. I didn’t wanted to go because i thought the same as everyone else here but it was a positive surprise! They played all their hits and not much of their -boring- banjo music

You would imagine this will perhaps the last wave of festivals they will headline. They are headlining Mad Cool, but only victorious festival will touch them in the UK. Even latitude are not booking them now.

They're presented as "UK show exclusives" by Victorious. 😁 I see that Kasabian are also there, I think I would have preferred them way more than Mumfords.

the third wave of artists only contains small names right?

Yep, they will round up the stages.

Usually there are few good undercards between the names, but generally is nothing to write home about.

Given the strategy Sziget adopted this year, and the fact that the first wave of announcements drew a fair structure for the Main Stage and A38 (I refuse to call it Freedome, because it's corny and cheap), I'd be surprised to see Placebo in the wave 2.

They made it clear:

Main Stage: BIG POP MAINSTREAM TIKTOK-APPROVED

A38: Middle tier alt music, not too edgy cause we don't want to scare nobody, but fancy enough to give an options to the old/odd fellas and maybe provide some new options for those who went to Sziget for the Main Stage.

Everything else, Colosseum, Party Arena, Europe (etc.) will play as usual.

TBF, as an outside spectator, I'm kinda bored because this concept is mild at best - but hey, whatever floats the boat

So almost everyone have a problem with Mumford & Sons as a headliner, but if Macklemore headline or co-headline, that’s okay? 🤔

If he headline, he will headline only with his name bigger as the others, no way that he will play 21.30 time.

Lets pray that he wont have headliner status and Mumford will coheadline with some bigger name as The Killers!
