ticketmaster dynamic pricing uk

Just seen Taylor swift’s US tour has the standard buy an album for presale access thing with no purchase necessary which is pretty standard.

merch buyers are being given a ‘boost’ in the ticketmaster queue - what this means who knows. No tout would have bought merch so thats good i guess for the first time this system is being used and would make them waste money in the future potentially /or just lots of returns to process. If this is used rarely it could work quite well but no doubt will become commonplace so artists can shift more clothing

Theyre doing Verified fan along with a credit card holder presale so theres no no purchase necessary thing at all here . Also theres a reason they cannot do that promotion in the united states like the uk for selling records. Billboard changed the chart rules so that you cannot sell "bundles" to boost sales. I.e purchase the album to receive presale access. You artificially raise your sales because of a product incentive. Artists were doing some crazy stuff to get sales any way possible til it got out of control. Dj Khaled had one album sell energy drinks with the music included so he could get to #1. Billboard removed those purchases and he didnt get the top spot and had a meltdown. K pop acts did a ton of that. Lcd Soundsystem got to #1 cause they did it for American Dream and had the cd included with the ticket purchase. Gorillaz had done the same. I mean Prince started this whole thing and he made them change the rules to include those sales, then only a few years later it switched again.

get ready for some crazy prices though when the tour goes onsale. Ticket listing has dynamic pricing.

Ticketmaster have been doing this for years. Resale and transfer go on and off at thier whim it seems.

The reminder yesterday morning gave a link to how the phone app works as a ticket and specifically said that it allows transfer - not ‘for some acts’. I was buying 1975 for my daughter on AXS last month and noticed they specifically said they weren’t transferable so used See instead. They really should highlight it. In fact when I bought these tickets they were going to be physical. This changed a few weeks later. F*** ing crooks

Dynamic pricing should be illegal. I dont want to admit how much I paid for Joni Mitchell a couple of weeks ago.

The "verified fan" thing is also bullshit.  I've signed up to that thing for a zillion acts, and never once have I been even given the opportunity to purchase a ticket with them

Can anyone tell me why resale and transfer aren’t available for the Gang of Youths gig at Here @ Outernet tonight? Sold out so seems odd. And annoying.

How many tickets do you have do you want rid? If your happy to give temporary access to your TM account while we get in i potentially might take this 🙂 standing?

Ah thanks @gfa I only had one spare (I’m going) but looks like my daughter can make it now.

i had a reply from TM which is a great example of their arrogance and ‘we’ll do whatever we like so f*** you’ attitude:

We’ll provide the option to transfer eTickets whenever we can, but it isn’t available for every event at the moment – it can vary depending on the event.

If you don’t see the option in your account, this means that the transfer facility isn’t currently available. It may be made available nearer the time, but unfortunately this isn’t something we can guarantee or confirm in advance – we can only advise to keep checking back to your account.

If transfer isn’t available, this means that your entire group will need to arrive together for the event and the tickets can only be accessed from your account.

None of this suggests it’s anything external like the promoter or the venue not wanting transfers. It’s basically ‘if we fancy it we’ll let you transfer if not - tough. Nothing you can do about it and we won’t warn you what we’re doing’. I’d love to stop using them but See and AXS often don’t have the tickets. I used to love Stargreen - little and very customer focussed but they had the big tickets. Those days are gone though, sadly.

Ive found that downloading the ticket to Google pay and sending the screenshot works for me. Not everyone will trust you on that but I've sold tickets on twickets that way

Very interesting read! Cheers for posting.

It talks a fair bit about the bristol arena which is a complete cock up and looks as corrupt as anythingarena will get built in an area designated for housing development, so the housing developers will have the council pay for a new train station bu the arena, and the new houses are worth more already cos theres a sration there. Arena is miles from cify centre.

K Pop kids just got destroyed on buying tickets and blindly bought whatever they could pull for a tour of Suga which is a member of BTS. Naive to think they were safe.

I think one of the things that may ultimately be the death of dynamic pricing is when people try to sell tickets on that they bought at the hugely inflated prices. I've been looking for some cheap Lizzo tickets and am willing to gamble until the last minutes (will just catch her at Glastonbury if I can't get some at a price I'm prepared to pay) and have noticed a few big priced ones that have been on sale for over a week. If there still there on the day I might put in a cheeky offer for them but ultimately if people end up losing several hundred pounds on an event that they end up unable to go to I suspect they'll think twice before doing it again.

Think that'll definitely be the case with individuals, but that it won't be enough to tip the balance on a large scale, as those individuals will be replaced by other willing suckers.

Ultimately people tend to think "I'm not going to be the one getting caught out" until they're the one getting caught out.

Maybe I'm hopeful that we don't have that many suckers around but I suppose if Brexit has taught me anything is that there are a lot of suckers out there.
