He has pretty big numbers on Spotify. But I guess the question is comparable to me asking the same of Steve Lacy. Had no idea who he was when announced.

Okay, first shot in the dark seeing as I've no informed clue on positionings, or the rappier side of music, but -

My Chemical Romance
Neck Deep

Post Malone
Vince Staples

Dua Lipa
Ice Spice

Vampire Weekend
Phoebe Bridgers

Olivia Rodrigo
Tove Lo

Kasabian
The Kooks

Neck Deep aren’t ever getting anywhere near subbing.

I found it bizzare that for the first time in forever, tickets weren’t on early bird sale straight after the festival finished.

I want varied options like the festival used to have. There was one year I hated all 3 MainStage Headliners but Radio 1 tent or Lock Up stage all had heavier headliners that I wanted to watch. That would get me back.

Blink is a good shout to be fair. If the 1 returning headliner is true then they must be returning to 1 main stage....  I don't think there's 5 new headliner's !

the info was that the 1 booked headliner was a returnee - so there could be more returning who aren't booked yet

I'd probably put Dermot Kennedy as sub level, no lower than 3rd down. Depending on your viewpoint he'd arguably be a strong tent headliner/weak sub, but I don't think I'd argue if I saw him sub on a 3 headliner poster.

Dermot isn't getting booked for R&L ffs

I think Post Malone is a shout for the "previous headliner" slot. Kasabian still headline material?

Could The Prodigy get a MSE headline slot?

Prodigy and Kasabian both MSW

I don't know if Prodigy would get booked tbh - they will likely be back to do their Boomtown show anyway

What is their ceiling then with new music coming out? A Day to Remember subbed when there was only one main stage.

A Day To Remember are a far bigger proposition in the UK than Neck Deep though. They’ve toured in arenas and subbed Download a bunch of times. Neck Deep’s biggest show is at Ally Pally and has only been announced recently. If things went back to a single Main Stage, I think you’d be looking at 5th down, middle of the afternoon as a slot for them. They played 4th down Main at Download this year but the audience is there for them more so than R&L. I wouldn’t even say that they’re too big to headline the FR tent at R&L now.

where are the post malone shouts coming from?

New album out so will be touring and been booked a few times. Think he’s a solid shout tbh.

Doja Cat / Post Malone / Blink-182

Kasabian / Fred Again / Tyler, The Creator

That's fair enough, as I say I have practically no statistical anaylsis knowledge to back up my suggestions other than going off what I could compare with other bands on name recognition alone sometimes lol.

Ice Spice is booked for next year.

I have also been told strong confidence that Blink-182 are booked for next year.

I also believe that the other 2 will be Miley Cyrus, and Travis Scott or Post Malone.

Ooh, spill the beans, Chaddy Baby! How trusted is this SAUCE?

Miley has been pretty vocal lately about not wanting to tour anymore so I find that hard to believe… unless she was talking about touring extensively but a few festival dates are okay.

Also doesn’t really strike me as a R/L headliner, but then what with the changing landscape who knows.

I don’t think they’ll have Miley.

Travis Scott will really bring all the fans, and quite possibly a lot of international tourists to the festival.

Blink-182, journalist friend works for Kerrang confident they have been booked.

Miley Cyrus I assumed based on her current demographic status, size, and music would be a perfect headliner but touring comments are a bummer. If not her then it will be a female act like Dua Lipa, Paramore or Florence & Machine.

Post Malone has good history with the festival, but his last 2 albums have kind of flopped in comparison to his first, and he doesn't really get any notice anymore.

Why not? They had Lewis Capaldi headlining this year.

He's a solid ticket seller by himself though - well it seems nobody was this year. Capaldi far more well known + a personality

He's got bigger now though having done that APE day - so very much a wasted higher slot. Guess it wouldn't shock me but just look at the APE undercard, hardly reading acts below him either

Honestly, Blink/ Travis/ Postie would be a damn solid top three. Not my cup of tea but it certainly covers the bases and if they #BringBackTheBigTent hopefully there would be more room on the lineup for more interesting stuff like Little Simz or Young Fathers.

Would like to see an indie act there to cover all bases really - there were 4 this year in the end (2 of which in the top 3) seems unlikely it would go to 0

Way too little indie - its near non existent

I reckon Peggy Gou is probably too big for the dance stage at the minute - reckon she would end up with a bicep slot
