Wouldn't recommend it at all tbh. Stay in Hasselt if you can. It's a great city, loads of good restaurants, cafes etc.

It's already looked quite pricey for stuff in Hasselt when I did a cursory glance tbf. Genk looked cheaper but obviously further away from the site.

New batch of names for Lowlands - https://lowlands.nl/acts/

First Aid Kit are probably the 'biggest' one that aren't currently playing PKP but would definitely take Avalon Emerson and the Charm.

Avalon Emerson is playing a tiny basement venue near us, still not sold out. Might take a look.

Pukkelpops line up is better than Lowlands so far.

Don't get the hype about Boygenius personally but people seem happy they've been booked. Bombay Bicycle Club the pick of the bunch for the latest names. Like the sound of Anz and Piri.

I would love Avalon Emerson & The Charm at Pukkelpop.

DDave: Avalon Emerson is an excellent DJ and producer, but she started making melancholic indie recently.

As Avalon Emerson & The Charm she is playing the latter.

First Aid Kit have already got a hectic schedule that week, so not sure that they'll fit in PKP as well, depends on what night they are playing Green Man maybe.

Did see Avalon Emerson had a date in Manchester @DDave so would be well worth checking out if you're free. Watched her DJ in 2019 at the Booth and it was not only one of my favourite sets of the weekend, but probably of all the times I've been to the festival. Haven't heard any of the new stuff but will definitely give it a listen if they're announced.

I will see her as DJ in a club in Brussels this Saturday...I will ask nicely if she's coming to PKP this summer.

They are very similar aren't they?

The big names added to Pukkelpop (in comparison to LL) are pretty awful: Bazart, Years & Years, Limp Bizkit, Dropkick Murphys, Anne-Marie, probably Lewis Capaldi too... Only Angèle is somewhat interesting and The Killers is okay I guess but got very tired of them by now.

Repeating myself but The Strokes instead of The Killers would've made it so much more appealing for me.

Happy with OSees

Others.. Hmmm

Nothing really special in these names... but there are a lot I don't know. Cool for You Me At Six

Almost 50% of the line-up. Next announcements will come after Easter. So in 1 month, I guess Wednesday 12 April hopefully.

Was hoping DJ Heartstring would be on the line up and there's a few others that look like they're worth checking out.

If this is nearly half the line up  - 86 names - then it may well be the case that we aren't getting the same number of stages this time. Pretty sure it was over 200 last year.

I think that somebody wrote here a few pages ago that Backyard stage is going to be changed by a Rock day at the Marquee (same as 2017 and 2018) and some rock days in smaller stages (Lift and Club I suppose). This could be part of the reason for the decrease of names.

Half time scores

Fri 4/10

Saturday 6/10

Sunday 8.5/10

Fri 3/10

Saturday 7/10

Sunday 3/10

I'm finding it all a bit 'meh' and disappointing. Hopefully things will improve.

Osees, Amyl & the Sniffers and Julie are the only three 'must-sees' on my list so far, and they're all on Saturday.

I'm still missing the strong undercard of names that I'd not previously heard of that PKP always somehow manages to conjure up every year. I've had a listen to everyone announced to date, and only about 2 or 3 of the 'unknowns' (to me) are making my ears perk up.

Compare that to the 2023 Best Kept Secret line-up and I've already got 20+ new (to me) names I want to see.

On a related financial note, with those two festivals and with two of us going, we've spent over 1,000 euros already this year just on the tickets, never mind all the other expenses. We're not super wealthy and that's just not sustainable. We may have to seriously consider dropping one or the other in 2024 - and looking at the line-ups for this year, Pukkelpop may have to be first in line for the chop...

After today's PKP announcement, my girlfriend and me finally decided to buy a weekend ticket for Rock En Seine instead. Nice mix of names for me and her for a good value (175€), good flights and public transports, worth a trip to Paris.

A lot of nice stuff but not the best PKP lineup for my tastes so far.
