Nah. They stumbled with Ultra Mono and brought it back a bit with Crawler, but I can’t see how they’re gonna ascend any further than they have, and this new single doesn’t scream ‘bold new push’ to me - it just sounds like pretty much every other post-punk band who dabbled with a electronic/disco edge, aka almost all of them. Woodsies headliner seems perfect for them.

...by...making a bigger and better album?

Would be such an incredible booking.  The culmination of a jaw-dropping treble alongside Macca and Reg.

Exactly! Whether they are to your taste of not, they don’t come any bigger than those three!

Agree, they are a strong woodsies headliner. No matter how good the new album is or how good they are live they just don't have the cross over appeal for other stage headliner. They supported jaimie T this year in London and Jamie T was a previous woodsies headliner couple of years ago. I know stock can rise and fall in a couple of years but feels about right. BTW thought they were fantastic in the other stage previously and really enjoying the new single.

Went to see Madge last night.

Now I’m no super fan, this was a bucket list ticking gig for Mrs C and myself and it didn’t disappoint, even sitting in the gods of The O2, it was an epic show.

Was it perfect? No

A couple of big omissions from the setlist, 25 minutes late and a few arrangements that left us begging for the original version…..

But…..

Even with all that, it was one hell of a show.

Her voice is still incredible, she moves like someone 40 years her junior, the theatrics and camp ness of the show were a joy.

And (to my surprise) she’s funny, self deprecating and her patter wove the show together perfectly.

There’s no way this show can be transferred to The Pyramid, it’s too grandiose, but if (and if it’s a big if) they can scale it for outdoor gigs this Summer, it would be one for the ages.

Did the screens enable you to feel close to the detail in her stage choreography and narrative?  It's a criticism that I've had of her pre-screen shows in the past... that there is a lot going on on-stage but you're somewhat detached from it unless in the pit or premier seating.  If screens have enabled even those in the gods to be part of it then I'm in 👌

Idles bumped up to Pyramid Sunday night.

Ok it won’t happen but I’d be up for that! Idles live just take me back to the raw excitement and energy of gigs I used to go to, rather than the comfy seated arenas now the norm.
So if it’s not Idles then I’d be more than happy with Madge on the pyramid, just don’t have them clashing😊😉

I went to the opening night. Mrs is a proper Madonna superfan so I had the privilege of being in the pit and basically front row. She was amazing apart from a little technical issue with the sound. Would love to see her again on the Pyramid. This is where I was.
