2024 Headliners

It does raise an interesting question though - when a big act has had a huge release, but it’s been years since, do you book them on the basis of their last success knowing the next one might not be so good?

Even if Dua’s next album isn’t as good, it doesn’t take away the fact she’s well on her way to major festival headline status regardless. Future Nostalgia is a tough one to beat, but she’d really have to release a stinker for her position at the top of the lineup next year to not make total sense.

And yeah, that Barbie song she’s done seems to be going from strength to strength popularity-wise now that the film is out so we’re already off to a great start before the new album promo has even begun.

I think for much larger bands, you can have some duds and still be solid. Foo Fighters had released a ton of garbage albums for years (Wasting Light being the outlier) but still headlined.

Foos had already long cemented their place as a permanent festival headliner fixture before their string of dud albums in the 2010’s began, so they need not fear.

Not really, Future Nostalgia dropped off very quickly. We don't need any remix Kevin Parker rubbish but there is only so long she can live off of an attempt at underwear flashing and thrusting her microphone to cover up the appalling dancing. I don't dislike her music music that is a phase that just wasn't needed.

Dropped off quickly?

Future Nostalgia spawned 3 big old singles (over a billion streams a piece on spotify) + the elton john one and now this barbie one after

she's here to stay ... will ignore the completely misogynistic second half of your comment

I feel like the phrase ‘dropped off quickly’ is taking an absolute kicking here.

Dua Lipa would be a very strong choice for headliner, but not my cup of tea, so someone good on the Other Stage at the same time please. What are Tool's plans for next year I wonder 😂

Tool headlining Other would be mental. Well outside Glasto's budget though (Heard from a festival-booker-friend that they cost a few $mill) and would never headline the Pyramid. More likely to get Puscifer playing mid-day.

Fond memories of that guy on here a few years ago who insisted that Rammstein were a Pyramid headliner in waiting.

Why?, what's being talked about except for her having one of the slowest selling arena yours of last year?

No. You said that her album Future Nostalgia ‘dropped off quickly.’ It was released in February 2020. It’s number 6 in the global charts for 2021. Its peak in the Billboard charts in the US was March 2021. It’s peak in the Australian charts (off the back of a reissue) was April 2022. It’s the 7th most streamed album of all time on Spotify.

So it peaked a short time after Dua Lipa had success in a duet with Miley Cyrus with Prisoner from an album released late November. Also just after Dua Lipa re-issued her Moonlight edition and mere 11 months after her original featuring that song, plus one original remix.

See I'm not interested mainly what numbers it hits in spotify, an app that costs £11 a month and upto £17 for 6 users. I'm interested in who didn't just race to buy her tickets at £60 a pop....and for a long time. It's probably one of the easiest arena tour tickets to have purchased in the last two years.

I can download a digital copy of an album cheaper to try and give it a go....doesn't mean I'm going to buy a concert ticket.
