Returning from having lost my password again to say, inspired by Elton, I'd take Billy Joel for Sunday, Clive. (Big argument over whether he is better suited to seventy-five minutes as a legend or two hours as an outright headliner though.)

I agree wholeheartedly. But remember a year or so ago, there were a lot of people on these boards saying Elton was defo a 'Legend' and not in contention for headliner status... 2022 was such an innocent time.

tbh Billy is one of those acts of his vintage I have still yet to see and would love to have at the farm.

I think it was a bit earlier than that.  2015-2018 or so when he was touring rural cricket pitches it was a valid point - but then the combination of his Farewell Tour and the fact he started having hit records again catapulted him back into the Headliner or Nothing category.

I actually haven’t the faintest idea. But I kind of agree with you - non-English speaking  acts get criminally ignored in the UK. Amadou & Mariam have never charted. At least Bad Bunny got to 62.

Yes, he could deliver an all time great Sunday afternoon set, but could do so much more.

Anything short of headline would be an outright criminal waste. Get him to close the stage and he'd nail it.
