In terms of headliners, Gaga is miles ahead of all other the other possibilities in terms of an 'exciting' act. Compared to Bruce and Madonna, she's a lightning bolt of fun; Bruce is fine, but who hasn't seen Bruce that wants to by this point?

I see the appeal of Madonna's legend status, but I'm unsure how much I'd trust the actual act to be any good

This is so true.

A proper fun "party act".

I'd have had the same concerns - but it sounds like she's actually giving people (a large chunk of) what they want to see on this tour and toning down the bullshit and reworked arrangements. As long as she sticks to that she could turn in an excellent set if she played.

Really running low on imagination and high on desperation if they drag Bruce out again.

It’s been 15 years but I totally agree with you.

Bring on the Gaga.

Not doing her Jazz and Piano show she won't be.

There’s no way she wouldn’t base her Pyramid set on The Fame/monster/born this way era.

While I agree, that's the show she's doing at the minute.

Not that Gaga has much - or indeed any- basis at the minute.

Radio One folk (Annie Mac) also seemed to think that Taylor was in the conversation as recently as last week.

I will be trying for tickets for other dates, but a return to Glastonbury would be absolutely incredible. I started off thinking no, leave it, been there done that. But if he comes back and the “I ❤️ Sausages” flag is not directly in front of me this time, I will be a very happy person indeed.

To be fair - nobody has much if any basis right now. All of the six names that seem to be potentials (Dua, Madonna, P!nk, Gaga, Springsteen, Coldplay) are based more on circumstantial evidence than anything else.

It's just Gaga has less circumstantial evidence than the others, but that could change in a heartbeat if she announced or even was rumoured for a tour.

Folk demanding Gaga over Madge are giving demanding Jeff Lynne over Macca.

This is a pretty unfair comparison, people are not just pale imitations of their influences. Bit like asking who is buying Kendrick tickets when they could just go see GSH (the other one this time)

True enough.  Anyone at the other place heard anything?

It's only unfair if you don't like Jeff Lynne.....

(and I like him)

We need that guys head mounted on the 'Mid by Joe Rush. No justice, no peace.

Do we know what this was based on?? Not sure if I've missed something major but can't see anything online that points towards Gaga?

Pretty sure they're just speculating same as we are.

As speculation goes, it's not impossible but it's also a long way from being nailed on.

I mean, it's not like we have any control over it but voicing preference of Gaga/Madge over Bruce/Coldplay is perfectly acceptable to me!

It was Radio 1, saturday just gone, around 1pm. They'd just mixed Kendrick into something into Nicki/Beyonce's 'Feeling Myself' if anyone wants to listen back on Sounds. They made out like Emily's podcast interview had put Gaga's name into the rumoursphere.

Sorry for the reminiscence in the wrong thread, but just found these 2 photos from the Sunday that year (2009). We saw this sign outside a kind of tea tent place along the top by where Glastonbury on Sea is now. And the other picture is the people in the tent.

We had to have some Magic Punch ourselves.

And then we missed Tom Jones legend set for some reason 🙂

The punch was great!

You realise how heavily indebted Gaga is to Madonna right? Possibly slightly too much.

I think Madonna herself has suggested as much. Some would call it influence or a tribute but some of Gaga's schtick is downright plagiarism.

Between those two I can't decide if I'd prefer to see a legendary act, well past their best vocally, with a penchant for meddling with their setlist...or a more contemporary artist at the top of their game, with a back catalogue of slammers to easily fill two hours.

Both shows are built for the Pyramid headline slot, though.
