I watched her headline Primavera with no expectations, and she was very good.
Non-stop for 90 mins

She had it all, voice, dancers, lights etc , very much the British Beyoncé in my opinion.

I very much expect her to take her moment and shine.

I wasn’t too fussed but watched her Rock in Rio set on YouTube and it’s great. 100% Pyramid headlining gear.

Wouldn’t bother. He’s already confirmed he’s not playing.

Yeah like this has been known for ages  now.

No chance of Green Day now they are confirmed for IOW.

Never going to happen anyway imo.

There was no chance anyway, the dates already made it impossible to have the 3 days gap either side everywhere at different venues.

Seems increasingly nailed on to be Dua/Coldplay/Madonna. They're all big enough so no argument there. Personally, it doesn't excite me in the slightest and I think IOW have a stronger trio which is mad. But I suppose it'll please the 'camping chair massive', which is most important these days.

Fingers crossed for some exciting headliners on Other/third stage (I refuse to call it Woodsies, which sounds like you will be refused entry if your not wearing Fat Face gear).

I wonder how that trio ranks for people, if true?

They're a more solid set of headliners than last year, imo...

Dua Lipa > Arctic Monkeys
Elton > Madonna (but potentially only just if she really delivers)
Coldplay > GnR

However, I'm not sure how 2024 would rank against 2022...

Dua Lipa / Bilie Eillish (remains to be seen on the basis of Dua's new album and live performance)
Madonna > Paul McCartney (just my preference)
Kendrick Lamar > Coldplay

2022 will probably never be beaten imo. Mostly for Paul and Kendrick being all timers but Billie was also very good and hit the quota for young and fresh faced.

Yip. Something for everyone.

Way to pop or Radio 1 friendly to be for everyone. But agree that all three of those will pack the field out.

Yeah, its big and balanced, and has a mix of newish/established/legend, but personally i'd not watch a single second of any of them. Would look forward to seeing everywhere else on the site being quiet during Madonna though, can see that being very Eltonish, and i was a teeny bit jealous of all those at QOTSA cos of how banging that set was and how exclusive it wouldve seemed! Like the cool kids in the kitchen at parties, etc etc

I mean, if you want to ignore the 100K people that would be in the field for Madge, just like Elton.  I doubt that Dua or Coldplay will have much empty field either.

I'd argue that pleasing the BBC viewers is more important than the camping chair massive, tbh.

IOW absolutely isn't a stronger trio - 2 of the 3 have played Other stage multiple times.  They've also failed massively on the female representation front.

I’m still not believing it’s Dua. Without wishing to reignite a done to death debate, I can’t get round Emily/the reporters two female first timers comment. Dua May very well play, but I see her as a sub. To my mind, Pink & Rihanna are the most likely.

Dua is 100% a headliner if she plays and that will become even more glaringly obvious in the coming months as her new singles are dominating the charts and album rollout begins. We’ve also now had a reliable source telling us they’ve heard Coldplay and Dua so I’d be shocked if she isn’t one at this point (likewise the safe but insanely popular Coldplay).

The third is imo the only real question mark left. Madonna’s the big hope, Rihanna a step down but I’d be happy with, Pink would be incredibly whelming (on paper - I’m sure she’d smash the performance, just not an act I can get particularly excited about and also just don’t believe is a contender).
