Emily Eavis has posted on Twitter to say the rumours are untrue and that they will announce the line up in the new year.

in light of this, I’ll be fuming if January comes and it turns out it IS Dua/Coldplay/Madge

Well, Emily jumped on that one pretty quickly! I actually think those three, particularly Madonna, would have stirred up a little more interest and she would have let the rumour play out

That's my take as well. Of course the news about confirmed headliners is untrue, but only because they haven't been confirmed yet... as you say, carefully worded.

Irrespective of the real headliners, I’m just happy it wasn’t the Daily Mail (or any concern outside of the festival) that preempted the headliner’s announcement

Not my take. The prediction in the Mail is either true or not true, and Emily is saying the latter. I’d guess it’s 2/3 true.

Does Emily usually release statements like that when tabloids spill the headliners? I don’t recall that ever being the case before which is interesting.

I think she has said stuff in interviews but I can't remember anything like this.

It's hard to imagine the reports are too far off. I'd say they've either got one of the acts wrong or it's right, and Emily is just turning down the noise with a carefully worded statement

I guess a lot depends on how Emily is defining “confirmed”. If by that she means ‘announced’, then she can easily deny the story because obviously nobody has been announced yet. But if she takes confirmed to mean secured to play the festival, that changes the game and one or more may be wrong. 

@roughbloke mentioned he’d heard Dua and Coldplay are locked in. No mention of Madge (but no denying it either). Could they still be haggling her down and she’s not signed yet?

I dont agree at all, she cant outright deny the trio within 12 hours and they actually turn out to be correct

the prediction is obviously wrong. It could easily be 2/3rds correct of course.
