The struggles for a headliner surely make Coldplay more likely than less

It may be the case that it’s more a struggle to figure it out than it is for the festival to book.

The struggles are ours.  I doubt the festival are really struggling at all. Just watching the madness waiting for the time.

Almost as much as Bad Bunny.

Bad Bunny's ticket-selling firepower in the UK is unknown. SZA's just done the arenas and is headlining festivals next summer, including BST on G weekend and Roskilde, which often share headliners with the G.

Now that's not to say that it's going to be her, but she's the type of act that could easily be in the conversation if Plan A (Madge) and B (Stevie) didn't work out

So I’m confused now… what’s locked and what’s not locked by the people in the know. Seemed to be suggestions there that Coldplay are out.

Nobody has seriously suggested Coldplay are out, that was kind of the point.

A bit like Lana Del Rey last year, who has very similar streaming stats too. Shame they didn't book her to headline either.

If there was / is so much scramble for a replacement surely they’d be more noise about it? It points to me like she’s been locked in a while and it’s been held up by BST being announced (or something similar). Stevie Wonder always seemed strange. Man hasn’t done a live show since 2019 for a start.

The info we’ve had about BST has been incredibly accurate so far, even down to the dates involved, so it’s highly unlikely she’s doing it, unless Stevie W has been some elaborate code name used by both BST and Glastonbury

They got Lana on a kind of weird cusp / transition point - and there's reason to think that she thought she was headlining the whole thing.

Post BST and (presumably) Coachella she's now at headline level and if last year hadn't gone like it did she'd very much be in the headline conversation from next year onwards.

Lana was at a similar level last year for the average glasto goer as SZA, she headlined BST and a few other festivals last year just like SZA at the moment.

Only difference is Lana was a bit more well known to a glastonbury audience with her playing before in 2014 and with her on the poster to play in 2020.

While this is true to an extent, Lana hasn't had a proper hit single since Video Games, whereas Kill Bill has been everywhere for the last year.

This forum is hilarious sometimes. On the one hand we have people calling for nobody lower in stature than the greatest artists in the world to headline the pyramid, and then we have people calling for someone called SZA who only a tiny minority of the world have even heard of. There must be a middle ground.
