2024 Headliners

Prince didn’t confirm his shows until 12 weeks out, which required promoters to take it on trust that he’d sign and that they could shift the tickets in time. For years that was too high risk for Glastonbury, but they pushed hard in 2014/15.

From memory… In 2014 the story was that they had him lined up with Metallica (who were Sonisphere exclusives) in the back pocket for the Other so both be announced late, they lost Prince so could bump up Metallica (although some have since said they were always booked to headline so shrug)

In 2015 he took it right to the wire and again dropped out at that 12 week mark, and they didn’t have another big act they could push onto the top line hence favours were called in and The Who made it work - they were only announced on May 6 that year.

That Metallica info came from Neil & it wasn’t true. Metallica were never doing the other stage. They offered to headline & Glasto turned them down (thinking they had Prince), Metallica signed on with Sonisphere as an exclusive, then had to do some serious back tracking to get Sonisphere to agree to letting them do Glasto when Prince fell through. - I know this because a friend worked in the Sonisphere team at the time. - it was Glasto already being sold out and the huge publicity/tv coverage that caused them to agree to it.

Glasto also pushed hard for Prince in 2011, but he ultimately chose to do Hop Farm festival instead at the last moment. Beyoncé was originally booked to sub, as she did at T in the Park that year too.

People taking about discord like it’s on some super secret internet that can’t be accessed by absolutely everyone! It’s just the same as here just some users moved - it’s nothing special, full of info, wrong info, arguments, alt accounts, disagreements and resignations.

And why do so many of you feel the need to tell us on here that the better information is all over there? 🫠😂

Nope, it's the same people that used to post here it is just elsewhere now for obvious reasons. I'd be saying the exact same if they were still posting here. People have proven track records, it is irrelevant if they are posting here or there.

Imagine if they'd pulled off having Bey subbing Prince

I'm shocked she wasn't considered big enough to headline by 2011. Mad looking ack she subbed T and headlined glasto same year. That was a golden year for T tho tbf

Yeah but;

Just because they were right before doesn't mean they ever will be again /  just because they were right before doesn't mean they will be right forever / just because they were right before doesn't mean they weren't guessing / just because they were right before doesn't mean anything until the contracts are signed

Still just choosing to ignore the BST proof is very funny. Cutting it out of the post when replying to it is even funnier.

Keep the blinkers on, eh?

So are you saying that the person who came here and dropped the BST dates is the same person on the other place who apparently knew Stevie was booked and then dropped out and that it's now SZA and is apparently the fountain of knowledge

Not the SZA part.

Brave Sir Robin used to post on here and always get BST right. He said the BST dates but it also has Stevie W in it. SZA isn't a definite and doesn't come from him.

Coldplay and Dua are locks. Comes from multiple people including Roughbloke who also used to post here and got it spot on last year despite a former disgruntled site owner making up some lies about them.

Cheers, that all tracks and makes sense. 2011 though, that is wild.

Missed around 20 pages, is SZA headlining the Pyramid then?

If she does then the people in the know were correct.  If she doesn't then the contracts were not signed and it was a fluid situation.
