That’s an exaggeration at best, except for GnR.

Seems like you’re in ‘I don’t like them so I’ll argue they’re weak’ mode.

Ffs you’re doing it again

I’m allowed to dislike the headliners man come on. I said nothing about them being weak I said they are all past it.

Even Arctic Monkeys after releasing one of last year's best-selling albums?

Again, why are people talking about whether they’ve got the credentials. Please go back and read the point I was making because you missed it.

I’m talking about LIVE PERFORMANCES. Going to see AM and coming back feeling disappointed appears to be a trend. I’ve still not got over how shite they were at TITP 2014 and how tired they looked at R&L later that summer. Judging by recent shows and reactions it looks like nothing has changed.

I’m talking about who is going to put on an exciting show. Nothing else. So please stop talking about how many albums or tickets they’ve sold. I know all three of them still sell well and I’m not disputing it.

“You don’t like the headliners? Here’s some stats about how big they are to convince you that you’re wrong”.

The main points that put me off the headliners are (a) it’s not very diverse and limited in genre, (b) all three of them have shit live reputations or are clearly past it.

We aren’t going to get anything like a show from Macca or Kendrick this year. It’s hard to get excited about it. Especially nothing like Billies.

“You think the headliners are a bad booking because you don’t like them? Here’s some stats that make an objective case that means far more.”

”all three of them have shit live reputations on Efestivals so all those people who keep filling big venues to watch them (and Emily who booked them) are wrong.”

You’re trying to apply objective value to subjective opinions, like so many others who’ve made the same mistake

I don't think it's a bad line up myself but it's certainly a different direction from the past few years. I think it's a combination of a few things that is turning people off:

1) GnR are a bit gross. Less dad-rock more 90s lad-rock. It's not about what band members may or may not have done, just the way their entire music and stage presence oozes a sort of old fashioned gross masculinity. It's at odds with the festival ethos. Had always assumed they'd never play for that reason until Emily's interview.

2) it's two heritage headliners. Acts that aren't actively writing new stuff and whose peaks were over 30 years ago. And yeah, Elton is arguably bigger than ever and GnR have put out a few singles but they're both closer to heritage acts than anything else.

3) the remaining act are also past their prime, giving a full trio of acts all clearly past their peak, and not a single modern act when half the past 6 headliners have been in that category.

I think all those taken together make it a bit weird. Like I say, I don't have an issue with it at all but it is different.

Oh for fucks sake this is tiring. Read all my posts again because you’re really not getting it.

What I’m saying is I’m allowed to dislike the headliners and have a problem with it, but it looks like here whenever you criticise them there’s an army of facts to try and catch you out on it. I don’t get it. It feels culty. You’re perfectly fine to like them but you shouldn’t expect everyone else to shut up and not have a view.

I - as in, my view.

absolutely nothing objective about that. Otherwise I wouldn’t use the word I.

GNR is definitely the oddball or of the trio. Emily is very keen though, and they’ve booked plenty of other aces who’ve engaged in many of the same activities that give them a greasy vibe. They still have a stage named after John Peel.

The heritage headliner thing came up in 2009 with Bruce and Neil. Eavis defence at the time was that when you get a chance to book acts like that you have to just do it. There may not be another chance. That very much applies to these two.

Exciting new face Billie Eilish turned in a three star show last summer. Aged has been Reg is guaranteed to better that.

A few of my group saw her last year and left due to being bored.

I saw her when she was on the other stage and last about 4 songs.  The mumbling sound did nothing for me.

Amazing how these new hot artists can be objectively rubbish too

Mate, you are the first person to rock up with the latest Spotify numbers when someone’s having a pop at an act you like…

Name one time I’ve done that recently. Feel free to go through my recent posts to find the evidence. I’l wait.

When Midnights and The Car came out you were constantly comparing the numbers and discussing when The Car was released as if you were working at Domino records yourself, suggesting they should have moved the date etc. So you do have a history of it.

I’m not going through your history, but we all know your reputation for these antics is well founded.

I’m getting really, really fucking tired of people making me out to say things I’m not saying and throwing stuff that I’ve done ages ago at me. I’m sure you all enjoy getting a rise from it. Or whenever someone gets bored dragging something from the past to win an argument. You’re one of the worst offenders. Fuck you.

Well I hope you enjoyed it and got the rise you wanted.

Fuck all of you. This place is the pits.
